Does having more than 1 antenna on a wireless network card increase the signal strength?

im kinda wondering this becuase i have a computer plugged into a modem and is fast and its located on the 2 floor of my house. i have another computer in my basement and its getting internet by wireless but the signal is only 2 to 3 bars.

im kinda wondering if the wireless network card i have which has 1 antenna, having another antenna would possibly increase the signal and give me 5 bars!


Like what the other uses had said, no. Increasing the number of antenna will not increase your internet strength. One recommendation I can give you is to put your wireless transmitter at the central part of the house, where the signal can go everywhere. Note that wireless signals are transmitted in radio waves, which means that they can go everywhere, not affected by the blocking by walls.

Is there a way to hook 2 computers up to one wireless internet using 1 antenna?

My computer I'm on right now has a antenna screwed into the back. The other computer doesn't have a screw in the back.


You will need a wireless card for each computer. You can also buy a usb wireless connecter, for about $40-60. so you don't have to open the back of your computer on the one that doesn't already have a wireless card.

Can you still use Sky+ with only 1 antenna cable?

When I signed up for Sky+, I lived in a house and had a dish installed with 2 wires so I could record and watch different channels at the same time. I have since moved into a modern apartment with a community dish and a single antenna plug in the wall. Now I cant watch anything if i'm recording something else. Is there any way around this?


No tryed it,you can'nt record.You need to ring sky to come and fixs a new dish so you can use sky+

    Ok, my first question. I've been reading lots of previous postings about pitch antennae, and it seems like lots of folks are using 3/8" tubing.

    Right now the pitch rod on my Theremax is made of 1/4" solid copper rod, 14" long. Would there be any point in making a new antenna of 3/8" tube, or even 3/8" solid rod? Is there a performance difference between tube and solid? Are we talking surface area, or mass, or...?

    (Both antennae on my theremin plug into standard 1/4" phone jacks. I've got a metalworking lathe, so it's no problem to make up the shape of a 1/4" phone plug on the end of whatever...
