Antenna Car

I have an 03 Corolla. The antenna sticks out from the back of the hood and I fear that it might be damaged if I put it through an automatic car wash.

Is there anything I can do to protect the antenna to ensure that it doesn't bend or break?

Some unscrew, and some can be pushed down. Some go down automatically when the radio is turned off. If yours is none of these, there's nothing you can do but take your chances - or wash by hand. This will always do a better job (and be cheaper), but can be difficult in winter.

Also, some car washes are brushless - they rely on high water pressure to remove the dirt. These will protect your antenna, but are bad for the paint, and don't even clean as well as a standard car wash with brushes.

I have a Silver car and a black Sirius car antenna, which sticks out like a sore thumb on my roof. Would I still get good reception if I painted the antenna the same color as my car with the car's touch-up paint?

I've tried just placing the antenna inside the car on the dash by the windshield and by the rear windshield, but the reception is not good.

Do Not paint your antenna. If you screw it up it will cost plenty to replace it. I proudly display my Sirius ... :}

my car antenna broke off and if i wanted to replace it i have to special order it. its an old car anyway so it wont be worth the money. are there any home made ideas that work well?

I have a 94 Toyota Camry and I know there is a button or something that can be pressed so I can put the antenna down. Every time I turn off the car I hear it trying to go down but I can figure out what to push for it to go down.

You need a new power anntenna. If you live in the States the NAPA autoparts store carries replacements for the antenna at much less than dealer cost. If you have some mechanical ability it is very easy to replace and you can even just replace the mast and the gear tape attached to it that raises and lowers it. Sadly the part is not available from their online store.

I've got a stick on car antenna/ariel and I need to get it off (as it's broken off inside). What's the best way of getting it off without damaging the glass?
p.s. It's a mobile phone antenna/ariel.

Use a hair drier to detach it from the clean and then either a razor blade to clean the glass or get some solution from ASDA or soewhere to remove sticky labels to clean up the glass. Always works for me.
