I live in a mobile home park and the rules won't allow any big antennas but I need an HDTV antenna are there any good low profile antennas? My nearest signals are about 40 miles away.
Something else to think about...
There are federal regulations against community association and local government restrictions that prohibit installation of antennas for receiving over the air video programming.
See the FCC's Fact Sheet on Placement of Antennas:
http://www.fcc.gov/mb/facts/otard.html
The community association can restrict the size of a satellite receiver to about 1 meter, and local permit regulations may prevent antenna's from being higher than 12 meters above the roofline, but I don't think there is a size limit to antennas for TV reception of local broadcasts.
The only exception I could see is, "Under some circumstances where a central or common antenna is available, a community association or landlord may restrict the installation of individual antennas."
You could probably think about putting an antenna up and telling them they have no legal right to restrict your antenna.

i am trying to et the best reception with my hdtv antenna i need some tips like where to point it and how far to put the ears. the antenna is digital
It seems that you are a bit confused, antennas are not "digital" any old antenna can receive a digital signal, it's simply encoded on a different frequency than an analog signal but is still well within the range of a traditional antenna's receiving ability.
There are about a bazillion factors affecting HDTV reception, mostly dealing with signal reflections. Most "HD" antennas are directional, this is a good thing as it minimizes reflections from within your building. However if the broadcast towers in your area are in different directions then you will not be able to receive signals from both towers at the same time with a directional antenna. The best choice depends on how far the broadcast towers are from your location, their direction and what type of building you live in. If you live in an apartment building, you likely cannot mount a large, outdoor antenna on the roof of your building, though this would give you the best reception.
Small indoor antennas can work so long as you live near the broadcast tower. Check out antennaweb.org for tons more info and a guide for choosing the best antenna for you. You can enter your address and the website will show you what kind of antenna is best.

im looking to buy a god hdtv antenna, and maybe a converter box. If anyone can help me pick a good set up either both or one of these would help!
Thanks
Can't say I know of a God antenna, but actually any decent Antenna will work as the frequencies have not changed. Depending on where you are you may need a signal booster which you can get from radio shack, best buy, Fry's electronics etc. Converter boxes are pretty much all the same.

i want an hdtv antenna that gets a good amount of channels and obviously good picture. any suggestions?
The same antenna we were using during the analog era should work. There are lots of factors to consider, but basically for outdoor antenna, the "yagi uda" type antenna that used to receive both VHF anf UHF channels should work when receiving digital transmissions. And for indoor is the rabbit antenna.
What greatly affect the reception, is the positioning of the antenna, direction, where it is mounted, if there are interference, your location - distance from the transmitter and obstructions.
Me, observe my cellphone signal bar in the house, the part in the house with the strongest cellphone signal is where I place my indoor antenna and extend a wire/cable to my TV set.

Tv Antenna info: The best HDTV antenna that works!
The number one question people ask me is "What is the best antenna for HDTV? and response, the best antenna for HDTV is the one that works. That may seem like a sarcastic reply, but it's true. All have no antenna to do is be able to block the digital signal in the maintenance and even when changing reception conditions. If the antenna system can do this, you will enjoy a perfect image and the best HDTV antenna for your location. Antennas good time is what I call many of the new compact antennas that claim to be HDTV antennas. Many of these new antennas have been designed to look good, but performance, in the process. That can provide much of the time of receipt, but when conditions worsen host the fall of the signal and ultimately looking at a screen that says no signal available. So what is the best antenna for HDTV? That's what I asked and frankly I could not find an antenna working in over 90% of sites in the U.S. without being big and flashy looking. Nobody seems to be making an antenna for most consumers. They were really small and compact and only work in strong signal areas in the right conditions for large or extremely difficult in the reception areas. I decided to design my own antenna and I call it the EZ-HD antenna. What is so special about this dish? Any compact antenna performs best on the market, yet is small enough to pass relatively unnoticed. Unlike the compact antennas good time carried out equally well in both the VHF and UHF signals. Almost every television market in the United States has both VHF and UHF digital signals. We will work in all but the hardest of the reception areas. It is constructed so that will last for years and years. Under federal law of the EZ-HD antenna is of a size that can not be restricted by HOA's deed restriction, or even the owners. You can usually settle in a place that is relatively off-site. The antenna is only 35.16 "long and 34.43" maximum widths. Best of all, the EZ-HD antenna is 100% manufactured and assembled in the USA. The final DTV channel table published by the FCC, reveals after the February 2009 deadline will have 1324 channels of UHF stations (channels 14 to 51), 450 channels of high VHF stations (channels 7 to 13) stations and 37 low VHF channels (channels 2 to 6). Almost 1 / 3 of digital broadcasting in the U.S. will be in the VHF frequency.
