Garmin nuvi 650 reception.?

I'm driving to Howland Maine tomorrow and I was wondering if my GPS would lose signal in that area. I was thinking of getting the external antenna for it. Any one ever have any problems with service. I was curious bacause there is no cellular phone service in that area.
I just bought the antenna it was only 30$ so why not. Thanks for the info.

The only place I ever had a problem with mine was downtown Chicago and downtown New York. Apparently the tall buildings were blocking the signal.

Once in the mountains in Gatlinburg TN I lost the signal briefly on an off for several miles but it really didn't cause a problem. About the time it was lost it was regained.

I do not have an external antenna.

    Televisions operate in a different frequency range than cellular phones, so hooking up to the television because you think it will improve or signal, will not improve your signal at all. Stick antennas, are of little help as well. But most of the cellular phone stores do sell regulare antennas for cellular phones.

    In addition to an external antenna, an inline amplifier would strengthen your signal even more. External mount cell phone antennas can give you better strengthen indoors as well. To stay up to date with your antenna signal, you should update your cellular phone, to the most recent tower listing at least once a mouth.
