using indoor antenna, signal level on all available digital channels run between 63 to 93. The lower levels chop out from time to time. Looking for a solution short of a taller outside antenna. Antennas are restricted in my town.
Antenna amps don't care if a signal is digital or analog so any of them should work. Beware that, if the signal is too noisy, adding an amplifier won't help you any. The amp will amplify the noise along with the signal so the TV still may not be able to pick out the signal. In that case, you will need a better antenna.
How does your city restrict antennas? If they are banning outside antennas, that's against federal law.

Okay so I wanted to know the best antenna (give me a link to purchase it if possible) for digital TV that has the best signal range. So far I have I have bought 2 different ones which was a flat RCA antenna and another one which was an outdoor antenna and they both work no better then a cheap 5 dollar antenna. Also the amplifier that came with the RCA did not help as much.
Thanks a lot for your time.

Go here, enter as much info as you want (it doesn't really need to know everything). Click on through.
You'll get to a page that shows what stations are available (with multiple channels on certain stations) and what distances they are. You'll also see a color code. Write that info down along with what RF channel the signal is broadcasted on, which can be different than the channel you'll see on your TV.
If it's above channel 13 (RF channel, ignore the other channel number) then you'll need a UHF antenna that can bring in a signal from that far away.
7-13 is upper VHF, 2-6 is lower VHF. UHF is the tougher frequency so go with the furthest distance you need and get a VHF/UHF combo antenna that will do what you need.
Sounds complicated but it's really not.

I have an expensive digital antenna (w/an amplifier) aimed directly at the nearest big city (and presumably the nearest tv broadcaster), but the signal keeps cutting out. What else can I do to improve the signal?
Digital signals are in a much tighter band that the analog. You have to have you antenna facing almost exactly inline with the transmission tower. off by even a few degrees will result in the picture falling in and out. Just turn the antenna a little at a time and see if you can get a more constant signal.

I have a USB HD tv tuner which, when I plug into my roof antenna and scan Australian frequencies, finds SBS and displays it perfectly, it also finds other channels but cannot display them because the signal quality is too low. I am on a farm near Koo Wee Rup, in south east Victoria and the antenna works perfectly with analog television, but at this stage I can only pick up SBS on digital TV, which is crystal clear, but no other stations. The tuner says very high signal strength, but almost no signal quality for other stations, so i'm just wondering if a signal amplifier will help improve the signal quality.
An amplifier should improve quality, but it will not be incremental. The amplifier will either cause the DTV signals to become instantly "clear" or not. There won't be any "in-between".

I recently purchased a digital converter box for my television, but after setting it up I am receiving no signal on any channel. What is wrong?
* My television is an HDTV Widescreen Plasma, but it's just a bit too old (2005) to have an internal digital tuner.
* My antenna is a large roof-mounted model (looks like this http://www.technudgelive.com/uploaded_im ages/TV-antenna-large-4-23-07-775146.jpg )
* The antenna is connected directly to my TV by a coaxial cable. No splitters or amplifiers between the TV an the antenna, just one continuous cable.
* I live in the Clarksburg West Virginia market and WBOY and WDTV should currently be broadcasting a digital signal.
I'm no tech dummy, this is everything isn't it? My digital converter box still gives a "no signal" message on all channels. What am I doing wrong?
* Yes I mean that the antenna is connected to the converter box. For analog signals it is connected to the TV.
* I receive analog signals fairly well, a little bit of snow but nothing major.
You said your antenna was connected to your TV. It should be connected to the Converter Box. That's probably what you meant to say, anyway.
How well does the antenna work with analog?
This is just a guess. Looking at http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wrappe r&Itemid=29&q=id%3d7623ef5211 which is city level data, it looks like you are within a couple of miles of the transmitters. For test purposes, try a pair of rabbit ears. It is possible to have too much signal into one of the boxes. Another possibility would be multipath distortion (powerful reflections) creating more errors than the box can correct.
