So... we plugged an external antenna into a LG VX8300.

and now it has NO service.

we called verizon. and they said that the phone has been tampered with. and they'll need to take a look at it.

PLEASE HELP

Is there a significant difference in reception between a cell phone with external antenna vs. internal antenna

purchased a Samsung T319 hoping reception would be better inside the house then it was with my old Nokia, it isn't. Are there any tricks to getting better reception?

Why did the cell phone manufacturers eliminate external antennas?

Absolutely no one makes an external antenna jack for a cell phone as far as I can tell. Is GSM really so good that antennas are now obsolete? I would have a real hard time believing this.


External antennas were actually more of a marketing gimmick than anything else. Remember how cell boosters were all the rage back then? In a few brands (Nokia, Kyocera) the antennas weren't even attached to the board inside. Just there for decoration.

Nowadays the trend is going to internal, not only because the general population doesn't notice but it's less costly for companies that have to replace the customer's phone. That's why you won't find many external antennas on newer phones from GSM or CDMA carriers.

i put a piece of wire on my external cell phone port and now my phone wont get signal and i cant find how to turn the internal antenna on???!!!! wat do i do?!?!?!?!?1


If you get the external antenna, it will turn it on for you. There is a switch inside much like an earphone jack will cut out the speakers and connect you to the earphone.

Are there any cell phones left that have an external antenna jack(besides Motorola Razr's)?

Cingular(AT&T) is dropping analog cell phones and analog technology, and forcing it's customers to buy newer cell phones. My problem is that I cannot find any newer phones that have an external phone jack, except Motorola Razrs which I am told are junk. I use my cell phone for hunting and need an external antenna for good transmission and reception in rural areas.
For unknown reasons cell phone manufacturers have stopped making phones that can utilize an external antenna. Seems they are deserting us rural folk.


analog is so unsafe its ridiculous. GSM is the most secure network in the world. There are a lot of rural carriers that use this service as well. sorry, you aren't going to find what you are looking for.
