Is there a Car FM Antenna booster?

I am looking for a cheap and effective way to pick up radio signals that are just out of reach. I just want to be able to pick up the stations that come in and out. If you can refer me to a store, a PRODUCT or site that would be great!

Yup, audiovox makes them if they are still in business, I've got mine from Walmart a few years ago. It was only about 10 bucks.
Very simple to install.

AM/FM Radio Antenna Booster?

just bought this one:
http://www.jcwhitney.com/webapp/wcs/stor es/servlet/Product?storeId=10101&Pr= p_Product.CATENTRY_ID%3A2001196&prod uctId=2001196&catalogId=10101

Instructions: Simply plug booster into radio and antenna into booster. Connect power lead to switched 12-volt power source and your done. For radios with motorola style antenna plug only

I managed to get the red cable connected to the car battery, but I still does not get good signal, I still hear a lot of static when i am listening to the radio.
could it be something that i did wrong?
I bought it so i wouldn't need my antenna extended to high on my 1999 honda CRV.

Usually all it will amply what ever signal comes into it. (I've had some and in rural areas it boosted some stations but not to the level people are exclaiming in the ads because average limit for a FM station is 25 miles (even though reality is 10-100 miles)

If the antenna is extended, does your reception get better?

IF no, or the same, check the power lead or you may have a defective unit

Swap out and make sure it's put in... the unit catches the ground thru the motorola plug (standard plug used for many years, but has gone by wayside in the last 10 years or so) and if you had to add an adapter of any sort it may not allow it to work correctly also ...

So try what I wrote and if not, take a piece of wire and touch it from the adapter to ground and see if it works also.....

other than that all I can suggest is JC whitney

Where is the in-glass antenna on the 2008 Toyota 4Runner?

I am trying to install an FM antenna booster for my XM radio. I am getting a lot of interference regardless of the frequency I tune in to. I can't figure out if it is on the driver side rear glass or the passenger side.

On the 4-Runner, it is actually in the rear quarter window on the Driver's side. If you look at the window behind the passenger door window you will see what looks like the de-frosting elements that are in the rear window. These are actually the wires that are the FM diversity antenna that is built into the window glass. You may want to have the dealership make sure that the connection leading to the antenna is attached well as you should not have that much interference with the system

Hope this helps.

Ken

P.S. The in-glass diversity antenna is in the rear window of most of the sedans that Toyota makes, but on most of the SUV's, it's in the side window glass to give it more surface area and to maximize the surface area that the rear de-froster can work.

better reception from my FM radio antenna?

anyone have any tips on how to get great reception and some of those further away stations?

does a longer wire help?..... does it work better if i routed it through my attic?..... i have a way to hook it up to my television rooftop antenna, would that work?.... i tried those 30 dollars antenna boosters and it didn't seem to help.... does it have to have a certain resistance... or will a large gage wire work better?...

Hook it up to your rooftop Antenna, the FM band is between channel6 and channel 7 on the TV band. Get a 2 way splitter at Radio Shack to inset between the TV and your FM Radio. :)

  • Simple Circuit Design: Simple FM Antenna Booster Circuit

Assemble the circuit on a good quality of printed circuit board. Adjust input/output trimmers (VC1/VC2) for maximum gain. Input coil L1 consists of four turns of 20SWG enameled copper wire (slightly space wound) over 5mm diameter former. It is tapped at the first turn from ground lead side. Coil L2 is similar to L1, but has only three turns. Pin configuration of transistor 2SC2570 is shown in the fm antenna booster schematic.
