I dont have a HDTV subscription from my cable service provider. Planning on buying an indoor HDTV Antenna. Has anyone tried the same? If so which one is the best? Thx.
Don't fall for marketing. While there are some antenna's that work better than others there is no need in most cases for an HDTV antenna. A roof mounter aerial antenna or a typical set of rabbit ears will work in most cases.
This use to be one of the higher rated HDTV antennas. If you need to pick up an antenna I would recommend this:

Just search for talk about the antenna and you will see how highly regarded it is.
One more note. Antennas are often highly directional. As you probably can remember, changing the positioning of the antenna can vastly change reception. These newer antennas are no different. Log onto www.antennaweb.org and it will show you what direction each station is in your area. This will tell you exactly which direction your antenna should be aimed for best reception of your areas digital stations.
To the Poster below me, although I bet this is above your head. They call it the Silver Sensor because its...get this....silver colored....and its a sensor....for TV signals....woah I know blew my mind too.
Nowhere does this produce advertise using silver anything. So I don't know where your getting that complaint.
Like I said, search for this antenna on AVSforum.com and you will see how many enthusiasts love it for their OTA HD reception
Cheaply, easily an quickly build an HDTV antenna that outperforms amplified store bought antennas! For more great ideas see metacafe.com
What are the best brands and models for HDTV antennas to get HD Channels on my tv.
For indoor use - The Phillips Silver Sensor (classic) has a great reputation for pulling in signals. I have loaned mine to 4 people here at work and 3 of them ran out the next day to buy their own after seeing how well it worked. (The fourth guy is behind a mountain).
For outdoor antennas, the Winguard line of outdoor antennas seems to be the brand of choice.

I live in a mobile home park and the rules won't allow any big antennas but I need an HDTV antenna are there any good low profile antennas? My nearest signals are about 40 miles away.
Something else to think about...
There are federal regulations against community association and local government restrictions that prohibit installation of antennas for receiving over the air video programming.
See the FCC's Fact Sheet on Placement of Antennas:
http://www.fcc.gov/mb/facts/otard.html
The community association can restrict the size of a satellite receiver to about 1 meter, and local permit regulations may prevent antenna's from being higher than 12 meters above the roofline, but I don't think there is a size limit to antennas for TV reception of local broadcasts.
The only exception I could see is, "Under some circumstances where a central or common antenna is available, a community association or landlord may restrict the installation of individual antennas."
You could probably think about putting an antenna up and telling them they have no legal right to restrict your antenna.

I bought a new computer with a HDTV tuner.
I would someone to recommend a specific antenna model that gives you the best HDTV reception for your money. It would be nice if it was also compact.
Zenith Silver Sensor
Radio Shack Double Bowtie
I currently have basic cable through TVMAX. I have an HDTV with a built in ATSC tuner. I also have an HDTV antenna. However, my tv only has one port to hook in a cable plug. Either I have to unplug my cable to get the antenna hooked into the tv, which means I don't get my cable channels, or vice versa.
Do I need a splitter, or how do I go about using my analog cable, and hooking up my new antenna for over the air HDTV?
Well, THAT sucks.....You'll have to choose.
You can connect an outdoor antenna using a <<splitter>>, but I'd recommend an electronic <<RF switch>> be used so you don't have to get up and walk over to the mechanical switch....look for something like that....
NOW, here's the bad part.....
You have to AUTOPROGRAM it EACH and EVERY time when you switch from Antenna to Cable and vice versa....
It MAY TAKE 20 to 30 minutes searching for Digital stations....
Buy Cheap Antennas
will a converter sock also purloin my hdtv that is using an ...
That depends. So if the tuner in the HDTV with rabbit ears is more than a a sprinkling of years antiquated a converter should skylarking a caricature on a more wisely tuner that is more indulgent of shocking signals. The tuners in some converter boxes like Zenith/Insignia appearance of to be as company as the latest HDTV tuners.
With a domination coupon it desire at worst place someone back you $20 to get in neat and if it doesn’t succour, you can in any took quarters submit oneself to it to someone or deal in it on craigslist.
