How to make a radio antenna for Nokia mobile phone with a mandarin shank - greek

What if 1.5 percent of the antennas on new Nokia cell phones are defective.?

For a random sample of 200 antennas, find the probability that:
a. None of the antennas is defective.

b. Three or more of the antennas are defective.

n = 200, p = 0.015, q = 0.985

Formula: P(x = r) = nCr * p^(r) * q^(n - r)

(a) P(x = 0)
= 200C0 * (0.015)^(0) * (0.985)^(200 - 0)
= 0.04867 (correct to 5 decimal places)

(b) P(x ≥ 3)

= 1 - [P(x < 3)]
= 1 - [P(x = 0) + P(x = 1) + P(x = 2) + P(x = 3)]
= 1 - 0.64724
= 0.35276

P(x = 0) = 200C0 * (0.015)^(0) * (0.985)^(200 - 0) = 0.04867
P(x = 1) = 200C1 * (0.015)^(1) * (0.985)^(200 - 1) = 0.14823
P(x = 2) = 200C2 * (0.015)^(2) * (0.985)^(200 - 2) = 0.22460
P(x = 3) = 200C3 * (0.015)^(3) * (0.985)^(200 - 3) = 0.22574

Note: All answers are correct to 5 decimal places.

Hope this helps!

Cell phone antenna stretcher?

I unfortunately don't get very good reception at my house on my cell phone. I can't make a phone call and can only text if my phone on on top of the fridge. Does anyone know if there's some sort of device you can hook up to your cell phone to make an antenna, or something you can sit where you normally get service and have it boost the signal throughout your house? I live in northern kentucky and my phone service is through cincinnati bell. I'd do the zoomtown to router, to cell phone dealio but zoomtown doesn't even reach out to where i live. I can't afford any other service provider. Am I pretty much screwed or can someone help me? Even if someone found a guide to open the phone and add in your own home made antenna I'd appreciate it. I have a Nokia 6085.

Yes, there are several options available for you. First, don't buy into any of those gimmicky little strips that attach under your battery that boast that they will boost your signal by three bars, etc. They've been tested and don't usually work. Do a Google search for "cell phone signal booster" and several options should pop up. Generally you will want to look for some sort of amplifier / antenna that will be mounted in your house or on the outside of your house. Usually cost anywhere from $40 up to several hundred dollars. Remember, you get what you pay for so I would avoid anything for sale under the $40 mark. I guess it all depends on how bad you need cell phone service. There is also an option where you essentially take your antenna off of your phone and install an adapter that connects you to an exterior mounted antenna without having to shell out the money for an amplifier, as long as you have good cell phone signal strength outside of your house. If I remember correctly, Nokia phones were quite adaptable to this kind of adapter. Check out www.unwiredsignal.com and you should find everything you're looking for. The adapter sells for about $14.00, with a decent antenna selling for anywhere from $70.00 up to $300.00. Hope this info helps.

Cell Phone Antenna Booster
Generation X Antennas

Price: $19.99 $0.01

Fits ALL mobile phones: AUDIOVOX / ERICSSON / NEXTEL / NOKIA / MOTOROLA / SAMSUNG / QUALCOMM / KYOCERA / LG / PANASONIC / SANYO / SIEMENS etc...
Very easy to install. No tools needed. Just stick it to the back of the phone where the battery is placed into.
You should notice atleast ONE "bar" more than before. Keep in mind that in a near zero signal strength area (less than continuous single antenna strength bar), results will be minimal. In areas where cell signals are non-existent, the booster will have no effect (but neither would a 10 foot antenna)
Improves sound quality by eliminating noises.

Is there a significant difference in reception between a cell phone with external antenna vs. internal antenna

purchased a Samsung T319 hoping reception would be better inside the house then it was with my old Nokia, it isn't. Are there any tricks to getting better reception?

I had a phone with an external antenna and it had better reception, but it was also a different company thing. The only real "trick" is to get a good service/company thing. I personally like Verizon, but I have cingular...

Which cell phone to choose: Sony Ericsson Z525a or Nokia 6102i?

The battery of my crappy LG phone has died. I want to get a new phone. I have narrowed down my selection to Nokia 6102i and Sony Ericsson Z525a (I have ruled W300i out because I don't need a walkman phone). They are similar in terms of features, and I am more concerned about their drawbacks. It is said that there may be some problem with 6102i's speaker so that it is not easy to hear when not perfectly aligned to the ear; I would like to know if it is still the case now. Z525a looks sturdier than 6102i. It is said that the antenna case of 6102i can fall apart if one grab the antenna to take the phone out of the pocket (which unfortunately is something I am used to doing). It is said that the too-easy-to-hit PTT button on Z525a often gets into one's way (which I don't think is a feature I'll be using). Is there any other things to note on the two phones? Which one would you choose given similar prices?
Note that I am asking specifically about Nokia 6102i, not the general Nokia. The earpiece volume problem is specific to 6102i. It seems that many user never had this problem with other Nokias, but are disappointed with 6102i. What I would like to know is whether the problem is still present in the more recently manufactured 6102i. If you only used other Nokias but not 6102i, I don't think you'll know.

In my opinion Nokia has easy user interface to understand, and cool design not like Sony Erricsson. Nokia is robust for some early products not the high end, but still OK than Sony Err.. products. These are the most valued fact i need before i want to have new cellphone.

Vibration for Nokia is better than Sony. The speaker phone for Nokia works well (better). Try it first you may hear the diff.. But the quality of sound is not good.

Both may consider a low tech products which both have bluetooth/infrared the most important feature.
But the antenna may not suit you if you choose Nokia. Sometimes you may break the antenna, and get new Nokia ... hahah
