Is it possible to watch Japanese TV using parabolic antenna dishes?
a parabólica

Hi,

I live in Brazil and I would like to know if it is possible to watch Japanese TV programs (from Fuji TV, for instance) by installing a parabolic antenna dish? Is it possible for an antenna located in South America to receive signals from Japanese satellites? How do I know if the signal is coded or not?

Thanks.
How do I know if a determined satellite is "visible" in (in the footprint of) South America?

If you are out of the footprint of the satellite it would not be possible to watch Japanese programming .
You can check for your location by looking for the elevation and azimuth for the satellite at lyngsat.com .
The satellites that you are interested in may also be scrambled .

Is there such a thing as a broadband Parabolic antenna ???
pássaro na parabólica

I need to transmit different signals and frequencies ranging from 2.4 GHz to 36 GHz all using the same parabolic antenna.

Is it possible to have such an antenna.

No problem! A parabola is a parabola. The distance from the parabola to the focus is the same no matter the wavelength. Your 3 dB beam width and antenna gain will, however, vary with wavelength. The antenna gain (EIRP) is given as

Gmax = nu(pi D f/c)^2

where nu is your antenna efficiency (0.5-0.8 is typical), D is the diameter of the antenna, f is your frequency, and c is the speed of light, 3*10^8 m/s

Your 3 dB width (an approximation) is given by:

Theta = 70(lambda/D) = 70(c/fD)

lambda = wavelength, D = diameter of your dish, c = speed of light, f=frequency

In order to make this work, you will need multiple feeds, typically appropriate length dipoles tuned for each band, at the focus of the parabola.

Make sense?

What is the difference betwen an offset and a parabolic antenna?
Parabolic

Not much, it is just a matter of where the parabolic reflector's focus point is.
A normal parabolic will have its focal point directly in front of the centre. That means the actual antenna / LNB/ LNA or whatever the signals are being reflected to, has to be in the path of the incoming signal, partially blocking it.
An offset dish is designed to receive the signal at an angle, and reflect and focus it to the antenna or other pickup placed outside of the incoming beam's path. There is no blocking.
The dish is still parabolic but at an angle, not straight ahead.

what are the different ways of feeding signal to a parabolic antenna?
Hello Spacecow

Usually the source for your antenna is a fixed point like a satellite. To feed the signal into the dish, you must aim it correctly. The provider of the signal should provide aiming instructions. Check with them.

The Dish Network aiming instructions are online at the second link in sources below:
