Dealextreme may be the way to go..
Will depend on the connection you have on your network card, have a browse (this is the link to the most common connector) but do check.

Hi, since this is such a popular video, I decided to make a (daring) daytime vid of my long range WiFi setup. This is currently hooked up on mom ...
I have 2 seperate problems and I'm hoping there is one product that will solve both.
First, I live in a rural area and traditional high-speed services aren't available. So my neighbor has recently signed up for Satellite internet and said if I bought a wireless router, he would allow me to use his service. So I bought a Linksys wireless-N router and he installed it. I get decent speed, but because of distance and line of sight issues ,there is room for improvement.
The second problem is, I recently signed up with Sprint PCS and the reception at home is much worse than when I was with Verizon and going back to Verizon is not an option.
So does anyone know of one product that could solve both problems without spending a mint?
Thanks
Thats the problem with wireless network.. it is always an issue on its range since any obstacles could lessen the range. The best way is to spend a Wireless-G Range Expander from LinkSys!! Brand name is a must so you could gain all the features..
Why dont you try asking this questions in www.connectionmedic.com
They have tech support from Linksys. They might suggest a firmware upgrade.. They solve mine.. Ask Mr WizKid.. He is from LinkSys

I have a wifi home network set up. two of the PCs (5 total) are getting poor reception. They are only 20 ft away from the router, but there is alot of interference from walls and such. the line of site for these gys are probably like 3-4 walls. I pull the router into a more direct line of site with the pcs and the two pcs to test it and the reults were better, but it is not a place I can normlly leave it. I am using a linksys 54G rev6 with high gain antennas
I have thought of two solutions. buy extention cables for the adapter antennas (10') and move the antenna to the doors frams of the rooms. This would bring the antenna closer to the router, but I am think I will lose any gain in signal with the distance in the cable.
the second idea is to buy a little usb wifi adaper and locate the actual adapter on the door frame using a 10' usb cable.
Which would give me better results?
The linksys i have does not allow the power to be tweaked with.
Your idea of the extended antenna cablesshould give you some increased signal streangth, but For better coverage I would suggest purchasing a range booster. Since you are using a linksys router I would suggest the below product.

You will not have to have any wires laying around as it does not use any ethernet connection but only wireless. The only cord to it is the power cord.

It worked well in our old house but we've hardly any signal in our new house. We have two pcs one close to the router so signal is great but one at other end of house where it is very poor. Do we need to buy a new more powerful router or can we use an antenna? We have Virgin cable. If we need to get a new router what works best with Virgin - should we stick with Belkin?
Wireless often has poor range, i frequently deal with wireless issues due to trying to make it work over too long a distance, and often the best solution is to not use wireless for the machines that are causing problems. Several companies make 'powerline', 'homeplug' or 'mains network' adapters that allow you to use the mains electricty wiring in your home as a computer network, simply by plugging them into the wall at both ends then connecting them to the computer and the router. If the machine that is furthest away is a laptop and needs to be wireless then you can get these adapters where one end is actually a wireless access point as well, so it extends your network via the mains ring, then gives you another wireless network at the other end of the house.
Hope that helps :)
People often say "things cost more these days" than in some glory period - - - but, so much of what you spend money on "these days" didn't even EXIST when I was growing up. Yeah, cable tv, internet and cellphone, that's expensive - - - but compared to WHAT? Compared to the network tv with an antenna, on which 5 channels came in? The rotary phone? PCs didn't even exist when I was a kid, internet either.
Food - "it costs more to feed the family" but statistically there's about 15% of the population feeding their family with salmon steaks and fresh veggies all year-round from Whole Foods that, a generation ago, ate primarily Birds-eye frozen veggies and tuna mac.
And we're all fat because fast food portions have tripled.
I know year to year you can compare a can of tuna to a can of tuna but........ In the aggregate and long-term, if rising prices of what we used to buy were such a big deal, how is it that we've all upgraded to this degree?
Adam it's quite the opposite of a rant - it's a good question - - - we often hear "stuff is more expensive" but the quality of the "stuff" our society buys is constantly improving. Of COURSE the "stuff" we buy now costs more than the "stuff" we bought a generation ago - it's not the same "stuff."
green gasoline prices are up not because of money inflation, not because the supply/demand curve has been moved, but because we've moved along the curve - supply hasn't kept up with demand.
All those economies around the world that have become less centralized and more market oriented are now growing rapidly as a result, and as a result of that their demand for fuel is rapidly increasing.
Stiggo no, the SHIFT is about 15% - - - that IS a whopping shift compared to anything that has happened before - - - you're not looking at the before and after.
And I certainly don't mean the TOP 15% - - - - basically the bell curve has shifted - - - what you might call the "upper middle class" has about doubled.
And all our lifestyles have improved.
Stiggo a few years ago I was on an island off the coast of Mexico in March - high season - and I struck up a conversation with a few cuties next to me - - - - - they were NANNIES.
Nannies didn't vacation on Cozumel in the high season a generation ago, they were lucky to get a shack in Dennis during the shoulder season.
Uh, charity did you post in 2003?
"Or that this generation is now confirmed to be the first that will not do as well as the prior generation?"
No, you people keep saying that, you predicted it back in the early 1990s, and the opposite happened.
adam the majority of people living below the poverty line have cable tv and a car.
Gotta love the "nothing's different for me" arguments - made over the internet using your PC........ Yeah, living conditions haven't dramatically improved since we were kids......
Yeah. I remember when my tv had a knob to change the channels. I agree with you totally.
