I bet you are looking at a Hoverman antenna that RS used to sell. There are plans on the internet for building a home brew one. If that's what you are looking at. (Google Hoverman)

I have a TV antenna from radio shack. The only channel it gets is channel 7. I don't need every channel in the universe, but a fer more would be nice. I've moved around the antennae, but nothing but channel 7. I do have 4 and 2 but they are not good enough quality- they only come out grainy with loud unwanted noise.
Most antennas have some 'direction'. Type your address into AntennaWeb and see where the broadcast antennas are in your area.
It will also tell you if you can get away with an indoor antenna or if you need an outdoor unit. (You may be too far away for indoor).

Hey everyone
I have the radio shack pro-2051 and want to get an outside antenna but got to thinking that i now have satellite tv and all my local channels are coming threw there so i no long have a need for the tv antenna on my roof. If i change the connectors out will that work as a external antenna and how well will it do? Also, there is a adapter you can get from radio shack that will connect to your antenna that will change it to the right end how well dose that work?
for all of you that cant figure this out im talking about a police scanner not a tv
An antenna doesn't know what it is receiving. As long as it's the right frequencies, it will work. BTW, that's also why there is no such thing as a "Digital" antenna, but I digress . . .
A TV antenna is made to work on 55 MHz - 211 MHz and 471 MHz - 801 MHz. If it is really old, it may even go up to 885 MHz. So, if you are scanning in those ranges, you should get good (not great) results. Remember, roof mount TV antennas are directional.
As far as changing the end goes, I'm not sure what you have. If your antenna uses the old 300 ohm "ribbon" twin lead, yes this can be changed to coax with a balun available at most electronics stores like Radio Shack.
I hope this helps.

I was wondering if I use speaker wire(any wire really) and ran it through my attic I don't know 100 200ft if this would work as one big antenna. I got an old radio shack(the biggest one they made, but no longer make) but it's lost some dipoles. I live on the s.side of indy and pull in stations from Louisville and Cincy with the old one. but I would like to pull in their digital stations better and get a more consistant better analog pic also.(basically for c bball and nfl reasons, and also I'm a dx geek, ie hazzard ky pbs station is the farthest one I've pulled in) so I was wondering if that would work before I waste my time with it. thanks
Run down to RADIO SHACK and install an 8-bay BOWTIE antenna designed to give you reception from 100 + miles away.....
While a wire can capture the signal, the antenna is TUNED to the channel Frequencies and provides more power to the TV set's tuner....More power, More LOCK....more stations.
Then you can ADD stuff to it......Like you can mount it on a 8 or 12 foot mast above your roof to get better/stronger signal....you can add an RF amplifier to get reception further away....You can use RG-6 cabling to suppress multipath interference/noise interference....
And then....when you have the money for it.....a giant 40 Foot tower with a rotater.....
And you don't have to buy it all at once....when you want to upgrade, you upgrade !
And Radio Shack carrys some good product...
Here's a place to go....it helps you to plan out what upgrades you should invest into, and what results you should see....and other antenna manufacturers like Winegard and Channel Master.

I purchased an ilo 32" sdtv for our "camp". Not something I would use at home but for $300, a 32" color tv to use with a radio shack antenna at a fishing/hunting camp in the middle of nowhere is perfect!
The problem: Every time I turn the tv on I get the language setup screen. I click menu and it goes off but still a pain in the neck. Is there anyway to get this fixed? Once English is chosen why should it keep asking ti pick a language when the tv is turned on?
Thanks for your help.
it sounds like it could be 2 things, 1 the menu button is stuck?, or 2 it's not saving the settings to the internal memory and thinks every time you turn it on is the first time it's been turned on.
tinker with the menu button to make sure it's not stuck, otherwise take it back to radio hack and exchange it for a new one.

Relacement of mosfet in Radio Shack TV preamp - Electronic ...
While I realize this amp's noise figure could be better, the one I'm using allows HD reception from 100 miles out using an old Channelmaster parabolic UHF antenna at 60 ft being fed by about 90 ft of RG-6. I'm located some 60 miles south of Buffalo, NY and about 100 miles from Rochester. The fine educational station (WPSU) at State College, PA also rolls in nicely Your point is well taken. However I've been TV dxing for some 50 years so the challenge is the key, not just the reception. The antenna I'm using is the highest gain 'consumer' unit ever sold so the purpose of the preamp becomes that of overcoming transmission line loss as well as overcoming the relatively poor sensitivity of the TV...
