satellite antenna installation?
Going SAT

ok I have a 2007 honda civic ex that is xm ready I brought the antenna where and how do I install it to my radio in my civic that is xm ready without it looking amateur

You can't just buy the antenna, you need to have the satellite radio tuner as well. The factory stereo is indeed XM ready, but you have to get Honda's XM tuner kit. You can get it from your dealer and they'll probably want to install it. Each dealer can set their own prices for parts but the retail cost is $295. This Honda dealership online sells it for $231.60. You might be able to get it for less since you don't need the antenna, just the harness and tuner.

As for installing the antenna, on my Fit S, I put the antenna in the rear drivers side corner and run the coax in through the hatch, but in my other car I put the antenna as far back as possible, then run the coax between the moulding and the glass of the rear window. It goes around the glass into a gap between two metal panels and into the trunk. I run it underneath the carpet or between the plastic moulding by the doors and the carpet until I get to the front and then take it behind the dash under the steering wheel back into the radio. That's for an aftermarket radio. I'm not sure where they mount the XM ready tuner in the Civic, it could be in the trunk and that'd save you a lot of headache!

Anyone know of a company that will do a roof top satellite installation on a 3-story house in San Jose, CA?
Listening to the Universe

I'm looking for a professional installation of a Directv antenna on my 3 story home in San Jose, CA. Other authorized directv installers have told me that they won't walk on tile roofs and also their 40ft ladder would cause damage to my rain gutters. I need help!!!!

There are some who will install in the attic or in a utility room where no one can see it, just an option for you to think about.

How do you set up Dish Network for a fifth room (without having to pay for installation)?

I have a two dual-receivers four room set-up for my Dish Network satellite antenna set-up. I would like to add a fifth room (and possibly a sixth) to this set-up, but I don't want to pay for installation. I'm willing, though, to pay for a new receiver, so is there a way to do this? Is there an online reference to look at, or do one of you have experience doing this? Your help would be appreciated!

It is my understanding that Dish does not support any more than 4 active tuners per dish. I suppose you could get another dish, but to have one or two more active TVs, you'd need another receiver, which requires installation. You could splice the signal from TV2 from each of your receivers, giving you two more TVs that you could then control with the TV2 remote (with the UHF signal). The TV1 signal relies on the infared signal from its remote to manage it, requiring you to be in the same room as the receiver to change channels.

Let me know if you need any help.

  • The Environmental Impact of Satellite Communications :: Satellite ...

The U.K. regulator Ofcom contributed to "Understanding the Environmental Impact of Communications Systems" when it released a study by that name in July. The report, part of Ofcom’s technology research program, includes an assessment of the environmental impact of satellite broadcasting and looks at what would be the effects if satellite replaced digital terrestrial television (DTT).

Unfortunately for the satellite sector, the impact would not be so large.

The study was designed to give background to Ofcom on the impact that communications systems can have and to consider where the regulator might pay more attention to environmental impacts in future decisions, including spectrum licensing decisions. In addition to many pages on the basic materials and concepts, the study sets up three case studies to assess the impact of mobile terrestrial communications systems and DTT.
