Is a sattelite radio antenna cable repairable?
Sunrise in an Urban Scenery

I have satellite radio in my car and after moving some things around in the rear hatch area I got a message on my CD player that said "ANTENNA ERROR". I returned to the rear of my car and found I had severed the cable. Can this type of cable be spliced back together or am I buying a new one?

You're buying a new one.

I did this to a friends car and it worked great, until he did it again.

The wires are so small and delicate, it took me almost 45 minutes to fix it with keeping the proper shielding and separation of both conductors. The 'repair' point is so compromised that it takes far less effort to sever it the second time.

I want cable or sattelite but the antenna to my tv was damaged...?
Anybody out there?

A while ago the antenna jack to my tv was pulled off. And I dont wanna fix it. It's a 32' Panasonic. I've had it for about 5, maybe 6, years. If I were to order cable or satellite would that antenna jack be needed for anything? Or can they just be hooked up through the A/V Input/Output jacks (the red, white, and yellow wires) Or do I have to fix the antenna jack in order to get anythin from cable or satellite? Thank you.

You can use the Composite Cable Connections (Yellow Red and White) Without having to repair the Tuner's connector...

You may need to get that CABLE yourself....I don't think it's provided by the cable installer....

You could ASK them first...

I recently got a sattelite system hooked up but my antenna channels have gotten a little bit fuzzy, do I need?
(Untitled)

an amplifier to fix that? or what else could I do to get clearer pictures with the antenna? I had a good picture before I got sattelite.

I have had satellite TV for about 15 years now and My first question is why would you need an antenna hooked up? Are you referring to needing an antenna for local channels? Most areas now offer local channels thru the satellite. Never heard of keeping an antenna hooked up after entering the 21st Century.
BUT, if you need an antenna for local stations, try disconnecting the satellite cable when you use the antenna. Both of them hooked together at the same time may be causing interference from each other.

How can I make this Phillips HD antenna work?
Double-Satellites.

It is an Olevia LT37HVS. It's native res is 720p(1366 x 768) and all the channels that I get are 480i. It has some kind of input called DTV, and it says that it is trying to scan for channels. There are two RF inputs, one that is labeled ANT which I assume is for Antennaes, and one that is labled DTV which I don't know what goes there. There is a switch on the Philips HD antenna that goes from sattelite to cable, and when I have it on cable, from my main menu on the actual TV on the TV input, I can switch between Cable and Air. That's the comparison that I am doing it with. I tried switching to the DTV input, and it says scan for channels. I looked up a site and it said that I had to have an antenna hooked up for it to work. So, I plugged in the HD antenna into both the ANT and DTV RF inputs, and scanned for channels. Both times I didn't get any channels. So, I always have the antenna set to cable, never to antenna. How do I make this work? What is the DTV input for?

Your TV has two tuners, each one has a separate input. The "ANT" input is for the older analog (NTSC) channels and the "DTV" for digital channels. To get both kinds of programing you can use separate antennas or use a splitter to use both inputs from one antenna.

It would be helpful if you posted the model number for your antenna.

In the meantime, here are two suggestions:
1. If your antenna has a amplifier, make sure it is plugged in and any power switch is turned on.

2. If #2 doesn't help, try to find/barrow any old pair of rabbet ear antennas you can find and try them on the ANT and DTV inputs. If you can get a signal with them, you have determined the problem is with the new antenna. If you don't get a signal, then your problem is either you don't have a signal (perhaps you are in a room with foil cover insulation or something like that) or the problem is on the TV side of things.

Let us know what you find.

How can I pick a good indoor antenna for far away tv stations?
Sattelitt_2

I have the new Zenith DTT901 digital converter box. I get all Chicago stations (about 32 of them) plus sometimes Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin. I think if I had a better antenna (I use wires, coat hangers, a metal shelf, other metalic items) I could consistantly pull in more far away tv stations. I can't have an outdoor antenna. Any suggestions to get farther stations without cable, and without sattelite?

If you have attic space, install the external antenna there. Works the same as if being outside. But after 2010, any external antenna will be useless, since all broadcast stations will be digital.
