Sirius Satellite Radio Antenna

I have a 2006 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with SIRIUS Satellite Radio factory installed. I have a Sirius subscription and I get good reception, but I was just curious as to where the antenna is mounted.

Under the top of the center of the dash on 2007 and up and is not visible,the 2006 is mounted on the roll bar just above the speaker pod.

Installing an XM or SIRIUS satellite radio antenna in a sedan.

Does this mean that it cant find the satellite antenna or the radio antenna?

All the wires are connected as they should be.

Called Sirius and they tried to help.(I was unimpressed)

Call Sirius. Your fees include technical support. I would call Sirius and ask them what is your problem. They should be able to trouble shoot and help resolve your problem.

Edited to add: call back and speak with someone else. They know their product. Whether you were impressed or not, they should be able to identify and help you fix your problem.

Hi, I am buying a sirius satellite radio today and have a question. On the Sirius website it says not to mount the antenna inside the car. I've been reading online and a lot of people have successfully installed it on the inside without any problems. I was just wondering if anyone has any input on this topic which may be helpful to me. I already have an antenna on the outside, and really don't want to stick another one there. I was thinking of mounting it somewhere in my back window or on the rear deck. Any thought? Thanks!

Several things you need to know.
It's best to have a radio that is satellite radio capable. If you do not have one of those it is best to buy an FM modulator that will run you around $30. This modulator will hook directly in to your radio through your antenna. The one that will come with your new radio will not work as good because it won't be wired in, it will be wireless. You will tune to a set FM channel to hear Sirius (either way you go). With the extra wired modulator you will always have a strong signal. If you attempt to use the one that comes in the kit any station may create bleed over and that's not good.
Regarding the antenna, it comes with a small round black disk and sits on the corner of my dashboard. I have never lost a signal unless I am getting my car washed or in a garage. There is no need to drill any holes or stick an antenna outside of your vehicle. If you are buying a plug and play model (such as the Sportster 5) and want to hook it up inside you will need to buy the home kit. Also pick up an outside antenna because the home kit provided antenna does not work very well. I bought the outside antenna and my signal went from I can't hear it to getting pinned out (10 bars).
The home kit hooks to your home stereo via RCA plugs and sounds better than using the "in the car" modulator. That's why I started the answer with "It's best to have a radio that is satellite radio capable." Claims that it sounds like CD quality occur when it is connected properly. In the house my Sirius sounds great, as good as any CD. In the car through my GM factory Bose stereo it sounds OK but not as good as CD quality. Also, it will not get as loud as my car FM radio however it does not get distorted turned all the way up.
Follow-up answer:
Sirius wants you to have the best reception. With an outside antenna the chances are better you will never lose their signal. I don't have that problem with their provided disk sitting next to my windshield inside. Circuit City installed it that way. Tearing off a previous antenna will not work if you are buying a plug and play Sirius. Leave all your options open and enjoy Sirius radio in more than one place by getting the plug and play. Go from car to car or take it in the house and get the most out of your paid subscription.

Which Sirius radio did you purchase and where did you decide to put the antenna?
Please realize my answer was given under an assumption you were going to use your previously installed
radio and you were buying a plug and play model.

Im thinking about buying a Sirius Satellite outdoor antenna .Its the Pro 500 or 600 Professional outdoor xm&sirius antenna.They both sell for around $124to $134 dollars.Does anybody knows which would bring in the strongest signal.

They appear identical in specs. One is probably just the newer model. It's probably more important where you live and in which direction you point the antenna.

Don't know how much money I'd be spedning on satellite radio right now. Sirius/XM is about to declare bancruptcy.
