will it work to put two tv antennas on one pole and wire them to the same coaxial but point them in different directions to get more channels, if i point my antenna in one direction it get 3 channels and 4 different ones in the other direction i was wondering if i put two on the same pole and pointed them in the two directions would it work to get all 7 channels, any help would be nice or suggestions thanks
They sell an antenna rotator which connects to a direction keypad inside your house so you can rotate the antenna as needed. It would suit your purpose and make it easier. We had one years ago when we had the problem you are experiencing and it worked well.
Example at the link:
www.tvtrade.ie The shelley Pole clamp can be used to attach two tv aerial masts together to increase the height of the mast.
a car antenna is just a single pole but a tv has to have two poles to receive the signal
The difference in design is in part due to the range of frequency's which each antenna is designed to accept and the normal orientation of the signal wave.

I want to mount an antenna (TV) outside of the house, but live in a dip, and reception is not the greatest at housetop level. Want to know best material, bracing, lightning/grounding details. If this would be a job best left to an outside installer.

I have a new DTV converter, new $16 indoor portable TV antenna and older 2000 analog 13" TV. Need help attaching cables to all 3...I am 60+ and dont know the terms of what porthole or cable to stick where. Converter and new antenna both have room for 2 cable hookups. TV only has the antenna- in porthole & no audiovisuals.. The old pole antenna on the TV wasnt good enough, so I bought the new $16 antenna for it. Reception isnt good in my area with DTV converter alone.
Carefully look at the back of the antenna and converter box. Everything should be labeled, but you may need a magnifying glass to see the printing.
One of the connectors on the antenna should be labeled "To TV" or something like that.
Temporarily connect the "To Tv" outlet to your TV and see what kind of analog reception you get.
If you don't get any reception, look at the back of the antenna for a switch. Try flipping it to the other position.
(The switch & extra connector on the antenna is so you could connect a video game if you wanted to.)
Play around with adjusting the antenna for best (analog) reception. It's a lot easier to adjust the antenna with the analog signal.
When your done, disconnect the antenna from your TV and connect the antenna to the "Antenna in" (or something like that) on the converter box
The other connector on the converter should be labeled "To TV" (or something like that). Use the cable that came with the converter to connect it to your TV.
Set your TV to channel 3 or 4 (whichever shows the converter's menu), then you will be ready to go through the converter's menu.
If you have further questions, be sure to include the model of the converter you have.
I purchased , not yet received a
SDW1850/17 Philips Programmable Antenna Rotator with Remote Control. Will I need one of these & seperate antennas for mulitple TVS.
Will each TV in the house need one to view different channels while two different TVs are being used?
Yes, I HAVE been to Antenna web. I have tested to confirm I will receive 8 channels with nothing more than an aluminum pole.
Here's the magic of how an antenna works. You stick it up on your roof...all the RF transmissions coming from the towers float through the air, hit the antenna, and the signal travels down the cable into your TV.
Unlike satellite, you don't have to do anything special..all you simply have to do is split your antenna line to as many TV's as you want. All the incoming signals are already there (it's similar to splitting a cable line in your house).
The Antena Rotator can only have one control...and this will likely be on the main TV. This has nothing to do with how the signal works EXCEPT that the thing rotates your antenna to tune in the best signal.
You can, in theory, split an antenna signal to as many TV's as you want up to a point that you've split it so much there's nothing left (splitting a signal causes signal loss). Each TV will indpendantly run. Your only issue is if someone on one TV wants to watch a channel that doesn't come in when the antenna is moved. Let me see if i can make it a bit easier.
You have one antenna with a rotator on your roof and let's say...6 TV's. Now, you can use signal splitters and hook those 6TV's up and each one will be able to watch a different channel...after all, all this thing is doing is grabbing all the airwaves and sending them down a coax line. Your issue arises in this. Let's say channels 1, 8, and 9 come in when it's turned the other and channel 4 for example has to be turned antoher direction. Well, if someone wants to watch channel 4 and someone wants to watch 8, that's about the only issue you'll have. Your antenna can only pick up in one direction..and your rotator will only use one controller.
so, for the sake of simplicity, no, you don't need anything special for your Tv's to watch different channels, just split to each TV...it's just fighting over the position of the antenna is likely to be your issue.

An “Improvised” TV Antenna of ABS-CBN of 2009 « Albert Cornelio ...
When I was along EDSA straight ahead to GMA Kamuning-Timog Avenue to a barber shop, I looked over the ongoing rehabilitation of ABS-CBN TV tower. But at the top of it I saw a TV transmitting antenna having with “V-back” dipole position element, instead of using a conventional cylinder-type TV transmitting antenna. Although the cylinder type is still operational as some of the few sets are disassembled with the remaining 13 (North, 5; South-west, 5; South-east, 3), the V-type dipole that is currently not operational for testing is assembled above the cylinder type. The concept of V-type dipole element claims that it would be more powerful TV signal than the cylinder type.
