We have a regular antenna with a signal booster on the TV. I am going to put a splitter on the cable and run it to a second TV in the house. (It works; I've already tried.)
I was wondering if the second TV would get better reception if it had a signal booster too. That way 1 booster wouldn't be taking care of both TV sets.
No, you don't need a second booster. You will end up boosting the signal too much and overload the TV's tuner. The whole idea of a booster is to retain the signal quality from the antenna all the way down through the lead in wire and splitters to the television(s). One placed as close to the antenna as possible will do the job just fine.
Here's another thing that might help. All signal boosting amplifiers have a certain "noise figure". What that means to you is, the more boosters you put in line, the more likely you are to get a grainy picture. There's nothing better than a nice, big antenna placed well above the roof. This will get enough signal to easily drive two TVs through 100' of coax and a single splitter without a booster. Boosters are primarily for long cable runs and multiple splits. They overcome losses... they don't improve the signal.

my sister has a samsung widescreen tv with built in freeview, and she moved it around (said there was already a weak signal) and no theres no signal at all, we have been up into the loft where the antenna is, have changed cable, tried directly connecting the cable, bought a signal booster and amplifier aswell and still nothing...!
could this be a problme isdie the tv which is stopping it picking up the signal or not///??? very confused>>>?
Indoor aerials are not great for freeview reception. Look into getting an outdoor installation. Speak to a local aerial guy, he will know the area and advise you correctly.
This may be a stupid question, but I was going to buy a tv signal booster from ebay, and it comes from Hong kong. Will that fit my tv? I have no reception whatsoever as I don't have an antenna, is this all I need to get picture? Thankyou
You should try local stores like Radio Shack. Maybe ebay is cheaper but make sure they would work on your tv and not just some gadget that they say work.

I have a Haier 7" Digital HDTV. I use this in my vehicle. Currently, I plug in a DC/AC converter, then plug in the cable booster from Radio Shack (one input, four outputs), and connect an old Sony rabbit ear antenna to booster input, and booster output is an RG6 cable to the coax In on the TV. This works well and receives many HD channels. My questions are: Can I use an "In Line Signal Booster" and do they need "ac power'? (the hope is an Inline would boost as well, and not need AC power)
you will need a ac power converter w/ coax
Added:
Without ac power, you cannot "boost" signal, but you can prevent loss.
