I want to do this so that I can continue to receive a few VHF programs through my old combo antenna in the attic and get better HD TV with a new UHF antenna installed on the roof.
Just connect both antenna's to a splitter and run the single connector to you Television. Splitters can also be used as a combiners.

I am located in northern Rockwall. I have a Uhf and a Vhf antenna in my attic. They are connected to a booster with an FM filter. I was recieving signals, but for some reason, I cannot seem to get any digital signals anymore.
Go to terk.com and they have a place on there where you can put in your address and it will tell you which way you should point it and what channels you can get
Range Up to 60 Miles UHF Band (Channels 14-69)
31 Electronic Elements
Medium Directional Antenna for Fringe Areas
Range Up to 70 Miles VHF High-Band (Channels 7-13)
85 Boom Length
I have the converter box but I lost 2 channels. Now the infomercial says you need a vhf antenna for channels 2-12 and a uhf for channels 13 and higher if you are not getting them. So do I need a UHF antenna? If I get one will I still have the lower channels. Or do I need the combo vhf-uhf atenna? Any info will help Thanks......
You use a VHF antenna for channels 2-13 and a UHF antenna for channels 14-99 and for DTV channels. Even though you select channel 7 on the remote for your DTV, you're actually watching channel 53 on UHF plus their sub-channels. VHF won't be needed after June when they stop transmitting Analog signals. The channels above reflect the stations here in the Los Angeles area.

Can any coaxial cable be used at some point connecting to a HDTV set or must it be REPLACED all the way from the antenna to the set?
Thank you.
A good rule of thumb is....if you get very good analogue reception on the antenna and coax you are currently using...then you should get good digital reception

Even though the above link is Australian...the information regarding antennas and reception should still be quite useful to people in most countries.
I didn't need to replace any of the antennas on my house or any coax either.
Simple, external antenna instructions, please.
Indoor antennas are simple ! Out door ones are not ! Trust me ! buy yourself a ready made one from a shop !! It will save you a whole heap of buggering around sawing lengths of aluminium tubing to the correct length and bolt them onto a mast at the correct spacing and of course the rods have to be mounted the correct polarity vertical or horizontal to suit the stations you want to receive ! You will find that a VHF antenna is made with much longer rods than the UHF antenna so now we have two antennas on a mast, now do you want two down leads ? no I don't think so therefore you will need a 75ohm diplexer, that is UHF in and VHF in and only one out which goes to your TV !!. Well that describes a simple Yagi antenna ! 5 elements VHF and 10 elements UHF .. There you are then ! like I said best to go buy one !!! Cheers Pete
