Vhf Antenna

I am located in northern Rockwall. I have a Uhf and a Vhf antenna in my attic. They are connected to a booster with an FM filter. I was recieving signals, but for some reason, I cannot seem to get any digital signals anymore.

Is it possible to use only one antenna for VHF Nav and VHF Comm using splitter in an aircraft?

You could possibly use a diplexer for the systems, but there would still be a problem. The VHF Nav antenna has to have a clear line of sight to the transmitter all the way in, and the antenna for that system is tuned for the VHF Nav freq range.

We use diplexers on the C130 for the IFF/UHF and IFF/TACAN multi-band antennas. This was done when we installed ETCAS.

I am installing a 4 foot antenna on my boat that has a bimini top and am concerned about how well the reception will be. Does anyone else have experience with this or does anyone have a creative way to mount an 8 foot antenna?

Please remember that VHF is line of sight, so the higher you can get that antenna the better your reception will be.

So, how about mounting the 4 footer right on the bim if it is up most of the time. On two of my boats with antennas they are mounted outside of the bim area. On my ski boat on the handrail and on the 30 footer it is mounted with a vertical plate on a fiberglass portion right below the windshield.

Be thinking creatively, and find a spot on the bimini if it is up most of the time or outside the bim if you bring it up and down a lot.

I want to do this so that I can continue to receive a few VHF programs through my old combo antenna in the attic and get better HD TV with a new UHF antenna installed on the roof.

Just connect both antenna's to a splitter and run the single connector to you Television. Splitters can also be used as a combiners.
