I had the K40 trunk lip mount on my old Thunderbird. The Wilson mount is similar. The set screws must pierce through paint to metal for proper performance and exposing area to the elements.

Any experience with a Wilson cell phone antenna to improve reception inside house?

The T-Mobile coverage around here is generally very good.
Reception is good to very good on my deck, but one step inside the house (mobile home ) it drops to one bar or no service. I'm wondering if a Wilson Trucker's antenna (or similar alternative?) mounted on an exterior wall near roof + adapter for phone is likely to get me 3 or 4 bars.

I'm talking about with a stock cobra 25 LTD. Plus after it has been tuned. I wanna know a guess on both way before tuned and after.


given the right atmospheric conditions etc you can talk almost any where in the world. but remember that CB operators are restricted in their communicatios to only 150 miles. you can be stuck with heavy fines and/or imprisonment if the FCC catches you doing it. i know... been there... done that if you want to talk a long ways then get your amateaur (ham) radio license...no limit to where you can talk legally

I really like wilson cb antennas. But I don't know if they would be right putting one on a truck.


Get yourself a cheap one.
Theyre only gonna work as good as the other guys receiver.
No need to spend big bucks on an antenna that aint gonna get thru all the noise on the CB nowadays. I got a 4ft whip on one mirror of my dump truck and a 18inch rubber ducky antenna on my van. They both work equally well.

    The wildfire ravaging Northern Los Angeles County is expected to pass across Mount Wilson, home to TV and radio towers and the famed Wilson Observatory.

    Mount Wilson Observatory Director Hal McAlister said Monday in an ongoing blog that the U.S. Forest Service informed him that passage of the fire across Mount Wilson was imminent. The USFS also said firefighters would battle the blaze from the air rather than on the ground.

    Firefighers have already been pulled from Red Box, a major staging area about five miles from the observatory.

    In his blog late Monday, McAlister reported:

    Monday, 31 Aug 09, 2:46 pm PDT - I just spoke with Sherry Roman, Public Affairs Officer of the Angeles National Forest. She could give no updates as to the status of the fire in the Mount Wilson vicinity except that the USFS still considers that passage of fire across Mount Wilson is imminent and will be fought aerially rather than with ground personnel. Once the fire is through the area, they can assess the damage by air after the event before they can send in ground personnel. She also confirmed that firefighters have been removed from Red Box.
