I already have the Winegard antenna on my camper, in some locations the signal comes in great and in others, well, not so much. I am curious if a second, aftermarket, booster will help me get better reception all around? Thanks.
cascading amps does not work. The output of amp #1 swamps the input of amp #2 and will cause oscillation's that can cause harmfull interference to other users and services. This can cause the FCC to get involved. Winegard it noted for harmfull interference.
We are getting rid of cable and going to a regular air antenna. There is nothing on these days, and we seem to always watch what is on on our local channels anyways, so we are cutting ties with the cable company.
Tomorrow, we will receive a Winegard MS2000 OTA antenna. Hopefully, this will go a long way to clear up the fairly decent picture we have now (along with getting more channels).
If anyone has had any experience with the MS2000, please write me a note. Thanks!
It's not really so much about the antenna but more the placement of it and hooking it up the right way... the ms2000 is not that technologically superior the the wal-mart special

Can you help me with this. I'm looking at getting rid of my cable bill and I ran across this particular antenna. My living location is flat land with no tall buildings around.
I would be placing this on top of my entertainment center which is close to the ceiling.
Are you having real good luck with this model or is their a better indoor hdtv amplified antenna I don't know about?
Amplified Antennae are the same for the original Frequency that you were receiving the channel on before digitalization. (lotta words) if you try this antenna out without cable and only want to receive the (over the air channels) and they are clear go ahead. but remember that over the air channels are going to be the same as you would receive now. not new ones. I use the Channel Master Bow Tie antennas for my DTV reception. I get about 28 channels. I also use the Channel Master preamp on these antennas. So you see, I am partial to CM.
i just bought a roof mounted antenna. Should I use rg6 or rg59? I came across rg6 with copper clad steel, 60% braid, 100% foil for a decent price. Is it worth it? Can rg6 be used outdoors (i.e. run from the antenna through the wall and sealed)? I have never installed an antenna before, but feel I can learn fast by modeling it off of others. Also, I do have an HD ready TV. Do I need a preamp? If so, what does that do? It is a winegard antenna.
Thanks!
RG-6 has lower Loss than RG-59.
This difference becomes important in cable lengths of 100 feet or more.
It is recommended for Satellite Dish, but also for Outdoor Antennas.
For Satellite, like DirecTV, it is preferable for the center conductor to be solid copper. The receiver sends a voltage to the LNBs in the Dish, and Copper plated Steel may cause some voltage drop in long lengths.
Preamps will boost the signal. It has to be a good one so it doesn't introduce noise. It also has to have the right band-width or you may not properly receive some transmissions. If you have good reception without it, don't use it.
Winegard makes good antennas, but of course the more elements it has, the higher the gain. Depending on how far you are from the transmitting station, you may need one with high gain.
