Which TV antenna do you like better, Channel Master or Winegard?

I use the Channel Master Bow Tie antennas for my DTV reception. I get about 28 channels. I also use the Channel Master preamp on these antennas. So you see, I am partial to CM.

TV Antenna - Outdoor?

After the Digital conversion I lost channel 11 and 5 was somewhat choppy. I replaced my very old outdoor antenna with a new Winegard HD8200U Platinum Series High Definition VHF/UHF TV Antenna. I have about 40 feet of cable from antenna to TV. I also have a large tree near the house. Now I have channel 11 but 2 is gone and 5 is worse than before. I live 30 miles from Chicago where most of the broadcasts are from. What can I do? I also remember hearing that every channel will eventually switch to UHF. Is that true? If so when and will that help my reception?

The Winegard HD8200U is a directional antenna, which means that the reception you get will vary based on where it is pointing. Try rotating it until you get the best reception on the channels you want to receive.

Every channel is not switching to UHF, some are still on VHF, and for the most part, after the June 12th analog shutdown they are all on their final frequency.

Which Tv Antenna is best with obstacles and multipath for DTV?

Hello, I live about a 3 minute walk from a tall hospital and smoke stack. I'm having problems with digital and analog TV reception. My current setup has an unamplified VHF/UHF antenna strapped to the chimney. When installed, the installer had to try about 4 different antennas due to the multipath. This setup is now 7 years old. When split more than once, performance really drops. I have stations that I should receive, that I cannot. They are less than 20 miles away. The antenna is too low, I have several houses, trees and telephone/light poles that are taller. So, I'm getting a 40 ft tower, a brand new high powered antenna, rotor and preamp professionally installed. So my question is, which antenna is best for mostly UHF reception when multipath is an issue due to the hospital? I believe one of the digital stations might move to channel 7, but it is only 15 miles away. The new Winegard 7-69 channel antenna? Thank you.

Looking for an outdoor TV antenna?

I'm looking for a medium to long range outdoor VHF/UHF antenna. I can not decide between Winegard or Channel Master. I’m willing to but another brand as well. I would like specific model numbers and brand if possible. Personal experiences and a link would be nice.

It's all about "gain"

Check www.antennaweb.org

Make sure that whatever you buy has enough gain to receive the channels you can receive in your house.

Having trouble with tv reception after installing new antenna?

I installed a premium directional antenna by Winegard and it is pointed at the weakest local transmitters but the reception on our most powerful local channel is distorted; the picture on KTVH Ch. 12 has thin, diagonal bars and a "muddy" picture. I live less than 10 miles from their transmission tower and get razor sharp reception (of their signal only) with the cheapest "rabbit ears" available. I noticed the change when I moved the antenna to a higher elevation and switched from a 25 ft to a 50 ft cable. Some of the excess I coiled up behind the tv. Could that be the problem?

always cut the coax to length.

remember that a directional antenna is just that DIRECTIONAL. It will pick up best when aimed at the transmitter.

if all signal are weak, check the feed line, you may have a bad connected or crimped coax somewhere. Do not tiewrap the coax to the mounting mast, tape it. every tiewrap is a crimp.

I have no idea whether the reception from this antenna is good or not. I sent it back. It arrived so poorly packed that key pieces were missing such as the INSTRUCTIONS and the connector for your COAX cable!. Also the paper-thin cardboard shipping box caused the aluminum inside to twist and bend — the contents didn’t even stand a chance.

I can’t see how this product could possibly survive direct shipping unless they change the way it is packaged, such as encase the small parts in plastic so they don’t fall out and beef up the shipping box.

Thanks, but after that fiasco I think I’ll take my chances with DirecTV.
