How to build a simple external AM/SW wire antenna ?

How to build a simple external AM/SW wire antenna for my
etón S350 DL ?
someone told me that buy some speaker wire is good,
any comment? any DIY links ?
what is ground plug for antenna, connect it to the my electric socket/ ground ?
i live in a apartment at 9 floor.

Yes, a simple wire is sufficient. You can improve reception by connecting the ground plug to the 3rd prong (ground) on a 3-prong outlet, or to any plumbing connection that goes to ground. Depending on where you live, the plumbing may not be a conductor (i.e. PVC pipe), so try different options.

Where is the antenna wire on the factory stereo of 2007 Toyota Corolla?
barb wire, tower, fence

I recently removed my factory stereo to install a PA15-TOY Ipod connection. The PA15-TOY works great, but now I can't get the radio to play. I think I forgot to plug the antenna wire back in, but I just never remember removing it or where it could be at. Does anyone know where the antenna wire connects to on the factory stereo of my Corolla.

right in the back left corner of the of the radio i work with them at school al the time sometimes the wire gets pushed down behind the dash i'd pull the dash out and connect it then through it back together it makes it easier

Dose the length of antenna wire cause loss of signal strength?
Ensenada de San Simón desde el monte de A Fracha | HDR

I have a tv antenna and I had to relocate it to avoid a tree and added 50 of length to the wire, is this causeing me to lose the signal? Any info would be helpful.

yeah most def because the wire is so long the signal that has to be sent through that wire has lost most of its strength.... to explain you tv is made to pick up ultra high frequencies(uhf) this frequency is sent to you by some form of voltage..... when your antenna picks that up and the voltage is flowing through the copper wire it looses current because of friction so yes length is the problem as well as weather can effect it and temp will as well

When I install a new car stereo should i connect the p.cont wire to the power antenna wire?
Silent Threats

There are two connections from the stereos wire, which i don't know if i should connect. One is the p.cont and the other is the ant. cont. I do not have an amp. Should i connect the either of these wires to the wire harness's power antenna wire?

Sounds like you have a Kenwood.

The "P. Cont" is to drive the electric antenna relay or the remote turn-on for an amplifier.

The exception is when the radio has both a blue wire and a blue/white. In these cases, the blue is the antenna and the blue/white for the amplifier.

Some vehicles may also have an "electronic" antenna which has signal gain circuitry. You must hook this wire to one of the above to pick up stations well. Most notable are cars from VW and some Nissans.

Is it possible to splice an AM/FM antenna wire in a car?
Tower with drum antennas

The AM/FM antenna wire is cut right behind the cd deck in my car. Instead of going through and replacing the whole thing is it possible to splice a new antenna wire into the old one, or do they make an adaptor to do this? any other suggestions to get my radio working again let me know!

i would not do it, I believe there are spliters and that may work, but if you try to splice you will very likely cause interference.the antena is a common place as it is to pick up electrical noise if you go monkeying with the wire, then the chance of that will escalate. more fittings, more places for interferance. as a result you would hear engine noise thru the radio.

  • broken antenna wire, big deal or not? - R/C Tech Forums

You can see how this is calculated here. If by "taping it back together" you mean you reattached the antenna wire so there's contact you should be okay but if you haven't soldered/reattached the wire connection and you've lost some antenna length, you can use that site to cut your antenna to a correct length for your frequency. That will reduce frequency interference but bear in mind that your overall range will be less. You might as well just get a replacement, they're cheap
