Wireless Antenna Booster

I cannot receive my neighbour's wi-fi signal inside my house, but I can if i sit just outside. Is there some kind of antenna I can buy which I could connect via usb, which I could place just outside my window to receive the signal. It would need about 3m of cable. Thanks

Does your neighbour know? There are wireless boosters that will pick up very easily, and from inside the house.

i have a few cell phone antenna booster and i have a wireless internet, but there is no signal in my room, so will the cell phone antenna booster work with the wireless modem to boost up the signal?

Im trying to make this antenna to increase the signal of a wireless internet connectioon in my nieghborhood....Does anyone know how?

There are 2 ways to do this. The cheapest and simplest way is to take a piece of copper wire, it can even have the insulation still on it, like an extension cord, and string it in an upright position close to the antenna of the wireless router. The closer a part is to that antenna, the more signal gets 'induced' into the wire. The part of the new wire stretching up from there will act like an extended antenna.
Now check in spots you have tried before to see whether you are getting a better signal. Remember that metal in the wall or nearby intercepts these same signals and will attenuate (weaken) the signal.
If that doesn't do it, buy an active extender. These are amplifiers, that amplify the 2.8GHz signal of the wireless and really extend the range. But they have to be plugged into an outlet (power), plus they cost money.

cant connect while inside house. can connect while outside.
Seems to be no signal detected inside. With the booster does the radiation beam from antenna become narrow and harder to align up. signal is also to be picked up by range extender inside to reach the wireless printer in office. Booster is 500mw netcomm. AP = netgear 54Mbps. Range extender is D-link with a 5db antenna. Belkin Wireless modem router for modem and router but wireless is disabled. distance from grid antenna is only about 15m approx. Only 1m approximately all up is from ap to antenna.

perhaps the owner of that network only allows certain mac address to access the the network or the network is secured in some other way, or you could simply be too far away.

i must be picking up a signal through the neighbor's internet connection. most of the time my signal reads "very low" and it causes the internet to work poorly. I'm picking up a signal from this area but it's weak. Can I use an antenna or some kind of booster.

you can get a different wireless card, they make ones that advertise greater range, you can go to best buy, comp usa, etc to find one, ive seen price variance between $65 and $130 so its not incredibly cheap, but it is cheaper than paying for roadrunner ($40/month) i have been told that they work but i havent verified it for myself
