Can you use paint on a wireless network antenna?

Picture it:
A black, wireless network antenna sticking straight down out of the ceiling. It looks horrible. It would be much less noticable if it could be painted white. But will painting it affect the wireless signal?

If there's anything conductive in the paint, yes (it will affect it - you asked the question both ways). You can try it, but once you paint it, you may not be able to remove the paint. Why is it on the ceiling? You can conceal it behind furniture or cloth and it will still work - anything non-conductive doesn't exist as far as radio signals are concerned. (Just make sure that the box it's connected to still has enough air flow around it to stay cool.)

Where is the Wireless Network antenna in a Compaq Presario V6000 Laptop?

I have a compaq presario V6000 Laptop and the monitor broke and i opened up the case and there a re a few wires mounted to the back of the monitor and want to know if the wireless antenna for the WLAN was back there before i cut wires to remove the monitor so i can just connect it to an external monitor but still use the mouse and keyboard.

There is no guarantee that the antenna is on the monitor or the case. The only way to know is to call up the makers of your computer. Although I would consider with monitor being the best place for it, considering its the highest place on a notebook.

But as an alternative, you could just hook up another monitor through the connector on your laptop, and just have the computer show things through it, without cutting anything. I say this because cutting the wires on the monitor can open up shorts, and other things, including a house fire.

Where do I choose the network my wireless antenna connects to?

I got a new external wireless card for my computer, it is by hawkings technology and I do not know how to choose the network I connect to because it is connecting me to others wireless networks rather then my own...when I click view wireless networks, windows states that it cannot find wireless networks because I have another program enabled to manage them

Any help would be great

What has happened is that you have used the Hawkings install CD to install not only the drivers - but letting Hawkings software manage the connection - this will cause nothing but a headache. It's a Microsoft thing!:)

Solution - if you can't see and connect to your network by right clicking on your Hawkings icon in the task bar (try this first) - reinstall the drivers for your card.

Uninstall everything Hawkings in Add/Remove programs
Take your card out. If need be - right click on our card in Device Manager and uninstall.
Put in the CD - browse to install the drivers ONLY.
After installation of drivers - Shut down your machine.
Install the new NIC
Crank it back up and let Windows find the drivers.
You should be back in business.

Does having more than 1 antenna on a wireless network card increase the signal strength?

im kinda wondering this becuase i have a computer plugged into a modem and is fast and its located on the 2 floor of my house. i have another computer in my basement and its getting internet by wireless but the signal is only 2 to 3 bars.

im kinda wondering if the wireless network card i have which has 1 antenna, having another antenna would possibly increase the signal and give me 5 bars!

Like what the other uses had said, no. Increasing the number of antenna will not increase your internet strength. One recommendation I can give you is to put your wireless transmitter at the central part of the house, where the signal can go everywhere. Note that wireless signals are transmitted in radio waves, which means that they can go everywhere, not affected by the blocking by walls.

How do i make an antenna for my belkin wireless network adapter to pick up a better signal?

Can i use household stuff so i don't have to spend much money to make one...if not what would i have to do? thanks for replys!!!
