Wireless Antenna?

I have been looking for an antenna not to boost my own broadcast but to pick up more wireless networks. I thought the purpose of antenna was to receive... But it seems when looking for a wireless antenna all i can find is one that you hook up to your wireless router to make your router broadcast stronger.. Any help? I am looking for an antenna that hooks to my wireless NIC so that i can pick up networks that are further away.

I spent about ten bucks for an extension cable ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as px?Item=N82E16833164011 ) and put my wireless card's antenna on it and hung it over the blinds to improve mine. You actually are increasing both when you improve your wireless antenna as it is bot a receiving and transmitting antenna for both card and router.

A simple 5DBI gain antenna purchased from NewEgg.com would do wonders for your wireless reception:

Also, changing your routers channel improves reception as you may have RFI problems.

How to build a wireless router antenna using the cheapest and easy to get material for my Wireless G router?

I have this Belkin wireless G router which i am currently sharing with my friends 2 blocks away. The signal he received is only a bar. I read bout custom making a wireless antenna to boost the signal but do not have any idea how. Can you guys teach me how? For your info, the router had been placed near to the window and its in the visible line to his house. Thanks!!!

Personally, instead of making a home made antenna, I would buy a cantenna, it is designed for this type of connection. It works for great distances, and signals to a small radius of area, instead of just sending the signal everywhere, but not very far.
It's basically a long antenna, in the shape of a can, and works very well. You can put one on the sending end, and one on the receiving end, and easily get a perfect connection!

DOes anyone have any tips for using the superpass wireless antenna?

I wonder if there's anyone that can provide some info or little hints on how to use the superpass panel wireless antenna, we haven't been able to get any signals with it, and at the price we paid I'd like to see better results. Any suggestions?

Which superpass, did you get the one with the internal radio or just the panel antenna? If its just the panel antenna, what wireless adapter is it connected into with what type of cable?

I have used the CPE (combined radio/antenna) units at distances of 8-10 miles so they do work. Just remember they are LINE OF SIGHT! (buildings, hills, etc will block them)

You do have to have an internet SOURCE? Like a wireless ISP. If your just trying to steal internet which can end you in jail, its abilities are limited..since most of those will be indoor routers with very limited range.

If you know where the AP is, you aim the antenna at the AP, be sure to use the correct "polarity" (horizontal or verticle) depending on what the AP is set to use. You should see signal.

I need a longer connection wire or line for my wireless antenna?

I put a stronger antenna on my wireless card. It came with about 4 ft of wire. I want to make this longer but cant seem to find any. Any help out there ? These are much narrower than regular coaxial

Cables are sold in multiple lengths. You need to identify the connectors that you're using and buy the appropriate cable. This is a link to a site which has pictures of most of the common connector ends http://www.infinitecables.com/wireless-a ntenna-cables.html Go through them and find the ones that match your existing cable.

After that, it's just a matter of googling your specific connectors and your desired length.
