i have a regular radio and want to connect an xm radio antenna to it to recieve xm stations.
No.
Installing an XM or SIRIUS satellite radio antenna in an extended cab pickup truck.
My Chevy avalanche has an XM radio antenna on the roof and i was wondering if its possible to use it as the antenna for my RoadyXT (i think thats the name).
The receiver for the roady has an antenna line that you plug in but where would i find that line coming from the trucks antenna?
The factory XM tuner is usually buried behind the glove box in these vehicles, but even if the antenna plug fits the Roady, it probably won't have enough slack to run to the new device.

Universal mounting allows you to install on a roof, wall mast or balcony
For use with single-input receivers
I know with my sirius radio, once it's been broken you need a new one, but my friend at work has XM and his antenna wire snapped in two. Any help or MacGyver fixes would be appreciated.
Who_me - That's what I'm fiquring, just sucks the antenna isn't cheap.
You are better off to get a new one. Sites like Amazon.com and xmfanstore.com will let you just buy an antenna.

I have a skyfi2 xm receiver and the car kit, but no instructions on how to install this thing? Where do I mount it? How do I get the antenna mounted without wires everywhere? Help.
I can't speak too knowledgeably about your wiring system having never worked on a Honda Accord, though I did install Sirius on my old 2000 Civic. But the receiver is very easy and all cars are the same. You may be able to find an installation guide online. My Sirius tuner required vehicle constant-hot and ground; some come equipped with cigarette lighter/12 volt accessory plugs to use as the power source.
I'm going to have to assume you have a magnetic-type puck style antenna. Ideally you'll mount it outside centered on the vehicle roof just above the rear view mirror. Take a close look at the rubber trim strip around your windshield and you'll see that you can tuck the wire underneath it, hiding the antenna lead along the edge all the way around the windshield, down the driver side until you get to the base of the windshield. At this point you have two choices:
A: Run the antenna lead through the gap between your driver-side fender and the plastic trim plate at the base of the windshield, into the engine compartment and then through the firewall into the passenger compartment. Take care to use lots of wire ties that will secure your lead along the way and prevent its hitting something or tangling with your feet as you drive. Plug it into your satellite unit.
B. Run the lead around your door pillar and secure with electrical tape, around the door seal and underneath the dash. Secure as above.
Choice A is a lot more professional, though B takes less time and will work just as well provided that antenna lead never gets pinched.
Personally, I have an RX-8 that never sees any snow, so I mounted the Sirius receiver just below the passenger side windshield wiper; you can get away with mounting the antenna about anywhere it has a clear shot at the sky. One thing worth mentioning is that the magnetic antennas can scratch the heck out of the paint on your roof if they move around; my wife's Escape got really ripped up before we noticed what was going on.
I have been putting it on the top of my trunk but think that the cord got pinched causing a lost connection to the radio. I don't know if I want to do this again, cause now I have to go out and buy a new antenna for 40 bucks. Is their anywhere that people would suggest that they have not had a problem.
I believe the instructions for the remote antenna say to place it on the roof of the vehicle, close to the car's radio antenna.
Since my car's radio antenna is on the right front fender, I place my XM antenna on the right front corner of the car's roof, just above the windshield, and run the wire under the weatherstrip inside the front door to a point where I can route it to the receiver unit. Works well so far,and no problems with pinching the wire.

XM Radio - 2009 Toyota Prius - PriusChat Forums
I just thought I would post this so that others do not have to go through what I experienced. When I bought my 2009 Toyota Prius, I had my dealership also install the factory XM Radio kit. The factory kit came with an antenna that was mounted on the inside of my Prius on the passenger side dash board very close to the front wind shield. From all documentation I have read, this is not the ideal place for the antenna, and best reception can be achieved by mounting an antenna on the roof where there is a magnetic surface for the antenna to attach to. (I had terrible reception with the antenna mounted inside the vehicle.) Well, to make a long story short...after about six...
