3 way walkie talkies

I go camping with my family and my brother and his wife and my other brother and his new girlfriend and my mom and dad. Do u know of any 3 way walkie talkies? We need a 3 way. Or if I buy a set of walkie talkies can we all talk at the same time? I don't want to waste my money. Thank u!

A walkie-talkie is a simplex device. In other words it can either receive or transmit; it can't do both at the same time.
(A telephone is a duplex device which can receive and transmit simultaneously.)

So no, you can't all talk at the same time. You have to press a button (the p.t.t. switch - press to talk) to transmit and release it to receive.
You and your family will have to use traditional radio discipline by indicating who should respond to your transmission and saying, for instance, "over" at the end of each transmission before you release the p.t.t.

I live in a residential area, roughly central between my two Sons houses, which are approximately 150 metres from me in either direction, and was wondering if it would be feasible to purchase 3 walkie talkies with 3 base stations to communicate. What I do not know is would this be a good idea, or would there be problems using them, and what range walkie talkies I should be looking for? type? make? Thanks.

Have you considered you and your three friends getting TomTom GPS? Either the standalone GPS units, or TomTom Navigator 6 software on a PDA or Smartphone.

TomTom GPS has a "Buddy" feature, so you can put your three friends in your TomTom (and they can put you in their TomToms) and then you can

I know there are like 2 way and 3 way but how many ways are there?

A walkie-talkie is a 2-way radio. That simply means you can both talk and listen. Your home FM radio is 1-way since it can only listen. 2-way doesn't mean it's limited to 2 radios. A walkie-talkie can talk to as many other walkie-talkies as there are within its transmit range and are on the same frequency. There is no limit to the number or radios as such. A repeater will increase the operating range of a walie-talkie but is not necessary if you don't need to talk beyond the range of the walkie-talkie itself.

I want to purchase 3 sets of Science Museum Walkie Talkies. Each set comes with 2 walkie talkies. Will it be possible for all 6 of us to contact each other by walkie talkies?

It will only be possible if the Walkie Talkies have a channel setup. This is where you can set a channel to all the Talkies, for example, if there are 1 - 12 channels then have everyone set the channel to the same one, like 6. This way you can all be programmed to the same channel and enjoy! Good luck mate.
