I have a Winfast Fm radio installed on my computer and I was wondering where I could find a program that would allow me to pick up any signals like police or military signals. I'm not interested in monitoring phone calls I would just like to be able to receive police and military signals. Like an airplane or a police car.
Well you will need one or more radio receivers since military, police, airplanes, etc. are all on different frequencies and probably different bands. I use WiNRADiO at my work. But be prepared to shell out some money for it. If you're that interested in hearing what's out there, buy a scanner, it's cheaper. I doubt you'd be using the more advanced features like the oscilloscope or spectrum analyzer.

No the gtx800 privacy plus is 800MHz and the privacy plus simply means it's what we call a type 2 trunking protocol. Type 2 give you twice as many talk groups and personalities. Also 800MHz trunking has a 45MHz difference in tx and rx freq. and 900MHz is 35MHz Sorry !!!

I am looking to buy a Jeep Wrangler soft-top, however plan to add in a CB, ham, and 800 mhz radio system. What can I do to ensure that it would be safe to leave open-topped and difficult to steal these systems? Are there any special alarms or tools on the market?

So Sprint Nextel is supposed to stop using the frequency that Nextel is on by mid next year. The reason is that it is causing interference on police, fire, and other public safety radios. I am REALLY curious to know exactly what this interference is. Is it just static? Can you hear voices of people using their Nextels? Do you get it all the time or just certain times or areas of the city? There are never any more details in the news articles except for "causes interference". Thanks!
I'm not sure.
Most emergency public safety radios use some sort of signal transfer to avoid that. It's called trunking. Trunking means that the signal shifts within that 800 MHz wavelength. The signal is constantly changing. I would imagine that people using Nextel signals would never know the difference if they were interfering with emergency public safety radios. The public safety radios are probably getting some sort of static, interrupted by cell phone conversations, or interrupt in service which is why Nextel is trying to get out of the 800 MHz range.
The Nextel user wouldn't notice the interference, but it could be causing a lot of problems for emergency frequencies just because of the technology that they use.

BEIRG Press Release on Radio Mic Funding - Blue Room technical forum
On 30 June 2009, Ofcom published a statement setting out their decision to clear the entire 800 MHz band. This means that if you have wireless equipment such as radio microphones and/or in-ear monitors which operate in channels 61-69, they will be rendered obsolete by 2012/2013. Enforced eviction of PMSE from the 800 MHz band will therefore result in major cost implications for all those that own affected equipment. Ofcom and the Government agreed to the principle of putting a funding mechanism in place to cover the costs of migration by paying to replace affected equipment. Last week, Ofcom published a consultation Clearing the 800 MHz band; Funding for programme making and special events...
