I have a cb radio with the PA function i just need to know what type of input to use for the radio to the speaker. Will a powerhorn work for the PA system
Radio Shack sells an 8-ohm all-weather speaker that you can mount under the hood or in the grill. Just run the two wires connected to the speaker through the firewall and in to where the CB is mounted, and plug it in to the receptacle marked PA. You may have to purchase the male connector for the end of the wires, you can check when you buy the speaker. The other receptacle is usually for internal speaker. Be careful running the wires so they don't interfere with anything in the engine compartment, and don't get in trouble with local law enforcement. Have fun, good luck with it.

whats the best or loudest pa speaker/horn for my cb radio that i can mount behind the grill of my truck for under $20
Hey,
a few years ago i installed a speaker under my grill, and ever since my friends have gotten into the cb/ pa thing, .. mainly for the pa. But ebay my friend, its the only good place to get one small enough for under the grill, ive put the speakers (horn style) under the grills of a ford 250 a gmc jimmy, a chevy s-10 a dodge dakota, and a toyota carolla i think? maybe camrey.. i dunno. but theirs definitely a way, the problem with radio shack is they have big horns, They work well, very, but they are too big to go under the grill, and they are powered, if you have a cheap CB radio it wont even power a 30watt powered horn.
you want one of these style http://cgi.ebay.com/PA-Horn-SPEAKER-w-Pl ug-Wire-5-in-12-W-CB-Ham-Radio_W0QQitemZ 380059660284QQihZ025QQcategoryZ48695QQss PageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
problem is with something small enoguh to fit under the grill you wont find a speaker thats too loud, so find the best one on ebay (not the one ilinked too, that was just for refrence.) keep in mind the more powerful the speaker the bigger the horn, theirs a good difference between the 12w and the 20w horn speakers.
i now have a light bar on my truck and have upgraded from one of those to a powered 50w horn from radio shack, Loud! Clear and look good between my KC daylighters!
Easy hookup or repair of Speakers PA horns.
Fits standard external 3.5mm Speaker jacks found on most CB,Amateur radios, Scanners other devices.
10' Speaker Wire with 3.5mm Plug on one end stripped lead on the other.
hopefully all in one nice neat package deal, preferrably under $100?
I know this technology is dated...i don't care too much...looking for something to keep kids occupied on trips and a speaker system so I can express my road rage to everyone verbally, as well as hand signals.
Radio Shack, or any other store that sells CB radios. That is pretty much standard on all of them, although you may have to buy the external speaker separately.
i bought a cb radio from walmart and it says PA on the front of it. i dont know how to hook it it up. any help?
First you'll need a PA speaker. It should plug right into the back of the CB in the PA jack. Do you need help with choosing a good antenna? If you need further assistance email me.
You can get PA speakers for CB radios at Radioshack and most CB shops.
