cb radio mod

is the galaxy 98vhp a " ham radio" or "cb radio". if its a cb radio what mod do you set it on when wanting to talk on cb channel? i'm looking at buying my first cb radio and really like the looks of this radio. thank you

wise old man, is a wise old man, hes correct, its technically a ham radio....

these days companies are very into making "big radios" with lots of power, so they are all making these "10m(eter) radios" that can be easily modified to talk on the 11m band (or cb)

i wouldn't mess with a radio like that especially for your first radio, get a nice radio and learn the basic controls, and if you decide you dont really care about the laws (as many do) and you want more "power" then look at upgrading.

if you like the looks of that radio, look into hte Galaxy dx series radios. Like the Galaxy DX949 or 959 they are great radios with lots of options, and they are completely legal and a true CB.

if down the road you decide you want more power or something galaxy radios are capable of handling more power and can be easily "tuned" by a good tech. but get the radio first (its also cheaper) and play with it, learn its features and check out the side band!!! (lots of use on channels 35 through 40) and make sure you get an awesome setup.

The swr went crazy. sometimes high, sometimes low. WHASSUP???

It sounds like you could have a problem with the coax or antenna. Try replacing both before you kick the CB out the door :)

I bought a cb amp it says la 900 on the front. it has three power mods and a ssb side to it. is this a good mobile cb amp? i payed 300 dollers for it. it looks like new.

sounds pretty good.... it probably does about 700watts, i dont know who makes it. and its got a delay for SSB Talking. thats pretty awesome.... anything called pre amp? or rx amp?

look up hooking up amps, its not as easy as one may think...

you may need to upgrade an alternator depending on the vehicle, and ground, other wise you may get shocked through your mic.

Hello, I am wanting to install a talkback mod on my Uniden PC78 CB. I am wondering if anyone could show me a schematic or diagram with a parts list on how to do it myself. Thank you.

Unless you want to be able to turn the talkback on and off, all you'll need is a 1 watt 47 ohm resistor and a soldering iron.

One end of the resistor connects to ground. The easiest place to connect the other end is at the external speaker jack. Find where the jack solders to the circuit board. There will be three pins, two inline and another offset to one side. You will connect the resistor to the pin closest to the back of the radio.

If the talkback is not loud enough, you can use a resistor with a lower value. If it's too loud, increase the value. 47 ohms is usually about right. Any louder and feedback squeal becomes a problem.
