cb radio mounts

Used to have a Cobra CB radio with a slide in bracket for easy release (so it don't get stolen), and the Moonwalker whip antenna was a twist & lock release. Haven't been able to find anyone who ever heard of such things. Makes me feel old!

I have a 1989 GMC Sierra and am tired of my magnetic mount CB antenna. What type of bracket will work for mounting them on the mirror? what web site should I look at? I have mounted CB radio antennas on my previous vehicles, but they all had towing mirrors. Just need some good advice. Thanks

Any type of bracket will work. You can even make it your self. The main thing to remember is that any metallic part of the antenna should not touch the body of the vehicle. Use a thick rubber washer (or two) to isolate the bottom of the antenna from the body. Put a small piece of rubber hose (like fuel line) around the cable where it is connected to the antenna. Mount it any where. usually it is easier to mount on one of the bumpers or on top of one of the fenders, where ever is it is easy to access and run the cable to the CB Unit. Try to keep the length of cable from the antenna to the CB unit to a minimum possible.

Im planning on buying a cb radio.. I drive a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado, and when I look under the dash where I want to mount it, it looks like it wont fit because its too slanted.. I was just wondering if anyone else has a Chevy truck with a CB and where did they mount it.

it should come with a bracket that allows you to swivel it to your likings.

I have my radio fixed to a plastic base with a speaker, and it sits on the hump over the tranny. I'm toying with the idea of mounting it overhead but have not decided how I want to do it. Are there after market headliners for such a set up?

F.Y.I. My rig has a cloth and carpet interior, automatic, 60/40 seats, split rear window, and still in great shape for a work/camping/primary vehicle with 130,000 miles on it.
