CB Radios Answers
Hi,
I was just on http://www.livecbradio.com/ and found that they showed you a program for talking on the cb radio with your computer. It is called VoIPerized (http://www.VoIPerized.com/). (It is really a program like Skype.) I want to know:
1. How did they hook up the radio to VoIPerized?-----Most important question!
2. Is VoIPerized safe to download?
3. Will VoIPerized work on a mac?
I REALLY WANT TO KNOW A LOT ABOUT QUESTION #1!
Thanks!!!

Go to this site and they will tell You how to hook it up. And since they sell all of the equipment they can tell You if it is safe. I suppose it works about like the phones that you can use over your computer.
Points of Interest: The "About this Station" page tells you how it all works. The "Streaming Tutorial" is instruction to have your own Live
Audio Feed. Livecbradio.com would be happy to host your audio if you do not have a web page. Check out my "Live CB Radio Blog". Have you seen the latest in cb radio technology? TheTLM1, worth a look. The cb radio with a built in MP3 player and customizable display. Don't forget the New Bluetooth cb radio, also available here. If you are one of the few females that visit this site, check out the women's pink trucker hats. If it's not here, it soon will be.

I am looking at buying one and replacing it with a 6.5536 mhz crystal
yes, the basic transmit frequency control function has to be stabilized by a crystal oscillator for a radio to be approved for CB service.
but the operating frequency for transmit and receive is usually synthesized by either mixing circuits or PLL digital chips. you need a qualified technician to make any change in a CB radio, no user adjustments can be made. the frequency determining circuits for both transmit and receive are complex at best. the operating frequency is never the same as the crystal frequency, and is usually determined by several factors external to the crystal oscillator.
ploping an arbitrary crystal in a CB will merely result in a non-functional radio. even if it does transmit, it most likely won't receive on the same channel! there are many tuned circuits in the radio, and anything beyond a minor frequency change will disable it entirely. and making even a minor frequency change is illegal.

Any modification to CB radio equipment is in violation of FCC regulations.
I have a project where I'm taking two CB Radios, and taking a Y-Splitter and splicing them into one cord to LINE-IN on a computer. The computer has software that can split the RIGHT and LEFT audio channels back into separate CB channels to record the sound. What I have is a constant hum on the LEFT Audio channel, that happens no matter which one or both CB's are plugged in. I've chalked this upto the default LINE-IN input not handling the power coming from the CB's. The Software program suggests I get a better sound card or purchase a microphone pre-amplifier...where can I find the right device to purchase online, and what device would work perfectly for solving this hum issue?
Whenever you are combining two or more audio outputs to one or two (right and left) the best tool to do this and eliminate a lot of issues is a mixer. A small inexpensive mixer would work great for what you are doing.
Of course you would need the right cables to interface the CB's to the mixer and the mixer to the computer. They should all be "off the shelf" cables.
Here is a great small mixer that would do the trick:
