Okay, I don't want to go through a bunch of extra wiring steps to get my cb radio wired into the cars supplied dc power. So can I buy some sort of adapter that lets me plug it into a cigarette lighter outlet?

What kind of cb radio antenna should I get?

The device will be hocked up at home with a 12-v power supply, not in a vehicle.


well if your going to use it as a base station you should get a base antenna. Something like the Antron 99. its tall... like 18' or something... and should be placed high, and be grounded with some thick cable for grounding. Also you dont use the same Coax you use in your mobile install.

also look into the Imax 2000 little pricier but better performing.

my 12 volt power supply for my cb radio is now putting out 24 volts what is wrong and how do I fix it?



I would guess that the voltage regulator failed. The repair shouldn't be hard but you would need some technical knowledge to confirm it is the regulator and replace it.

As others said, a 5 amp continous will run a SSB rig and a 3Amp will run a stock (non modified) Cobra radio 25,29, or 148 as all rigs only a max of 4 watts RF

actually you will probably introduce more noise.

Most communications journals will tell you to install a line filter and connect the leads at the battery for the CB radio to help in noise issues but there are many ways of suggesting it for noise but usual consensus is battery from what I've seen
