cb whips

i want dual 4 ft whips for my cb radio but before i buy one i want to be sure that you can put dual whips n any cb. does it have to be a certain kind for dual whips? please help.

i have dual whips on mine, all you gotta do is buy a dual coax cable, its just where its 2 cables that go into 1 cable right at where you hook it up on the CB, you can probably get one at any truck stop

i have a 110 dollar cb radio i just got with50 dollar twin cb whips and my signal strenght is horrible. it only sounds good 1/4 of the time unless im litterlly right by them. what could it be? and how do i fix it? i want twin whips still.
would i need to get a better unitor antenna?

You need to have your SWR's checked and then set, optimum setting is between 0.5 and 1.5. Also, the FCC limits the output of a C.B to be no more than 4 watts. All radios are more powerful,but are tuned down to meet FCC guidlines. A good radio shop can tune it back up in minutes. How much it will turn up depends on what radio you have,for example a Cobra 25,or Uniden 68 can easily be set up to 15-25 watts, a Cobra 29,and Unidel 78 (with a GOOD radio guy) can push 35-40 WATTS. I also recommend a good microphone such as an Astatic, or a Road King noise cancelling mic. I have a 1997 Chevy Malibu. I have a CB radio with a 20 inch cable running through my trunk under my tail light to under my car. i had a piece of metal screwed into my back bumber frame on the right side. when i hook up my SWR tuner it reads 10.0 on all 40 channels i have no range with the 102 inch whip antenna and idk what to do.

this sounds like a grounding issue, check to make sure antenna and radio are properly grounded.

www.eham.com and other sites have great articles about setting up a good mobile install, grounding, etc

102 inch whip, once you get it squared away should be a killer antenna.

Look at the Cobra 75WXST CB Radio it is a very nice unit..........

As for the whip just go with a K-40 antenna......

I have a 1988 Ford Ranger with dual whips and when I use my CB all I get is a high pitch noise instead of someone talking, even if someone talking on the same channel I'm on. Someone told me once that I should change to a single whip because of the the signals getting crossed, so I'm just wondering if that person is right. Any help would be great. Thanks

Try a new mic. Or check to see if you got wires touching in the plug.
