I got mine at either Wall Mart or Radio Shack. They can go about $90. You could try EBay, you can find most everything on there.

Anybody know about a cheap power source for a CB radio?

I have recently bought a CB radio but i don't want to install it in my car or buy a portable hand held one. All i need is a power source but all of the ones that i found are too expensive. Does anybody know a cheap power source for it.

how do i find a cheap 'amplifier' for my cb radio, or can a subwoofer amp boost power?

i know its iffy doin this, but im just curious bout finding a cheap way to 'enhance' the effectiveness of my cb, And also, will that just boost my outgoing signal, or will it also RECIEVE signal from further distances??


A subwoofer amp would not work as a linear and vice versa. If the linear has a pre-amp it will boost an incoming signal but also will boost the background noise also.

The best way to get out and receive better is with a good antenna. The antenna is the most important part of any radio system. Even the best radios can’t make up for a poor antenna. A cheap radio and a good antenna will get your signal out and talk better than an expensive radio with a poor antenna. With that said, get the best antenna you can for your application.

Linear amplifiers by the way are illegal to use on CB radios. But if you want one they sell them at copper.com and other sites. See the following links:
