I have a connex 3300 hp cb radio! I would like to know how to convert It to a base station?

I need to know what the input is besides 12 volts I need to know the amps? And what type of Power adapter to buy to plug it in at the house.

The Connex 3300 is an awesome radio. To use in your house as a base station you will want to use at least a 10A/12V power supply. Now if you want to be safe and I speak from personal experience, you should use a 20A/12V power supply.
The power supplies can be purchased at Radio Shack or you can order them online.

what is the power and modulation ajustments for a connex cb radio model 3300hp-zx?

need ajustment points(example L4,VR2,T9)

You need the service manual and suitable test instruments too.
If you just fiddle with the adjustments you may end up overmodulating and causing interference.

What do you need to get started in ham radio?

I've been interested in getting into ham radio for a while, I mean I've heard some pretty cool stuff about it, from listening to astronauts to talking to people in Australia. How much money should I expect to spend on equipment and permits? I mean will something inexpensive such as this: http://www.westcoastmall.net/connex-ham- transceiver/1598/p perform well? Also any age ristrictions on permits (I'm 15)? Any recomended reading material apreshiated as well. Thanks in advance.

First of all, are you in the US? If so, the license is free, although it's $14 to take a test. Your best bet is to pick up a study guide at your local Amateur Radio store. They might still carry them at Radio Shack as well.

Find a local amateur radio operator. (That's the normal name for a "ham.") Do you see anyone with big antennas on their houses near you? Or funny lookin antennas on their cars? Chances are, they're a ham.

Most people like to get started into amateur radio with a 2M FM hand held unit. You can usually get them used for less than $100. It's basically a very good quality walkie talkie, and you should be able to talk all over the city using a repeater system.

The radio in your link, although it doesn't say it, is more than likely a CB radio. It's not the same as a ham radio. Before you buy any equipment, make sure you discuss with a licensed ham if it's the right thing for you.

If you have any questions after this Question is closed, feel free to email or IM me. I am a licensed amateur Extra class operator, and I would be happy to steer you in the right direction or help you find a local 'Elmer.'

Oh yeah, and 15? No problem! There are some hams as young as 6 and 7 years old! I hope my son will be licensed next year at the age of 5. :-D

Check out the links below, and look on their respective pages for new or prospective hams.

Cb radio is bleeding through channels waht can I do?

My dad gave me a cobra 29 ltd classic it has been peaked and tuned and a connex board/ echo board and talk back has been added. My dad told me the radio works its just bleeding into several other channels is this a problem that will affect the radios ability or should I have it worked on asap?
the radio was peaked and tuned before I got it. It was working fine and then one day when it was turned on it started to bleed channels. it worked for several years after being peaked and tuned with zero problems.

It's bleeding because some "expert" (hack)has "peaked" it and it is being over-modulated. Find a real tech to return the unit to its stock condition, remove the echo board (they make people want to kill your whole family anyway). Better yet, toss the unit, get a new one, and install and use it as it is.

Welch Allyn, a leading global manufacturer of frontline medical products and solutions, recently released a new wireless connectivity module for the Spot Vital Signs® LXi—the first of several next-generation Welch Allyn devices that will incorporate the new technology. The radio was designed specifically for the medical market, and it operates on hospitals’ existing wireless systems using 802.11 a/b/g technology. Using this new module, the wireless Spot Vital Signs LXi transmits vital signs data to an electronic medical record (EMR) through the company’s Connex® Data Management software—eliminating the need for clinicians to manually input data.

“Our new radio uniquely meets the demands of clinical staff on the frontlines since it was designed specifically for low-acuity areas, like med/surg floors,” said Steve Meyer, president, US/Canada and executive vice president at Welch Allyn. “The wireless coverage in these areas may be less robust than traditional monitoring locales, like telemetry units, and this radio and the Spot Vital Signs LXi are optimized to work seamlessly in these areas to improve clinician workflow and reduce errors.”
