Will the new microphone ear phones of apple allow me to have a mic on my ipod touch?
False Emcees (Prophets) : Deu 13:5

i read taht apple is coming out with new headphones with mic capability. THis will allow people to record thigns on their nano. will it also let me use a mic in my ipod touch 1ST GENERATION with things like the Skype app?

Hi There,

You are pretty limited when searching for a mic on 1G touch. NO MIC PLUGGED IN THRU THE AUDIO JACK WILL WORK. The only type of mic that will work must connect thru the dock port, which is inherently a bit more expensive to produce.

The iVoiceIII from http://TouchMic.com is your best bet, they sell that mic for $34 i believe, and shipping is only 4 bucks...

Best of luck!

how do i fix my microphone from my ear buds?
headphones

I have recently purchased a blackberry and i have used the headphones. I have found that they were compatible with my ipod touch as well. I have used them as microphones for it and when i downloaded new software to the itouch they wouldn't work. these ear buds were push to talk and whenever i push the button, music plays instead. Does anyone know how to fix them before i replace them?

Through it in the toilet and get a new one. Sorry the rubbish bin.

How do I stop my microphone making that ear-piercing feedback sound?
18/365 - 10/26/2010

Whenever we have band practice, I hook up my microphone to its OWN amp and our guitars and stuff are on their own amps yet the microphone insists on going EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE if we go near it with our guitars or try to sing into it. How do I stop this? (Yes, yes I know, I'd make a great technician/roadie/guy who does stuff)

Feedback is caused by the microphone "hearing itself" through the speaker (or amp).

There are basically three ways to reduce feedback:

1. Get closer to the mic (very close - 1 inch away) and sing louder. Then you can turn down the volume control for that mic.

2. Point the mic away from the speaker and the speaker away from the mic - they should not be pointed towards one another. Point the mic towards you and the speaker (or amp) towards the audience

3. Move the mic farther away from the speaker.

All three of these will reduce feedback. It is the basic laws of physics at work.

Why do soccer referees have wireless devices in their ear with a microphone?
Not Enough Hats

I was watching world cup soccer and noticed the ref wearing what looked like a bluetooth, or hands-free device for a cell phone. I was wondering what purpose this served.

To communicate with linesmen and the fourth referee. The purpose is to inform quickly about any foul in the field
