Does anyone have a resource that could provide me with the information about the emergency (police/fire/emt) radio channels in Fairfax, VA?

I'm looking for a radio scanner that picks up emergency and airband frequencies. any other frequencies are a plus as well. I want one thats handheld but has some sort of dc plug-in so i dont have to use batteries all the time. Hints, ideas, websites? thanks!
Where do you live? Different places use different types of scanners. For example, here in Colorado, you have to have a digital scanner to get the emergency services. That's not true most places, but it is here. Most scanners will get the air bands, so that's not a problem. Nowadays, you can get a DC or AC adapted for nearly any scanner.

WakeMed Health & Hospitals today announces it has received Certificate of Need (CON) approval from the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation (DHSR) to develop a women's hospital with 41 acute care beds at North Healthplex and to construct the Brier Creek and South Healthplexes.
