Is it convenient using a handheld satellite radio receiver to listen to in your car using the FM transmitter?

Any specific units work best with this method? Which carrier's equipment is best for this, XM or Sirius? Do the extra loose wires and docks get in the way? What are the details of the configuration?


It wasn't convenient for me - the antenna in my car is over the rear fender, and the FM transmitter wasn't strong enough to broadcast that far. This was a little Belkin generic FM transmitter. I needed to run a headphone extension from my MP3 player to the back seat of the car, then place the transmitter near the car antenna. As well as having wires running around, it meant I had to take extra steps to turn the transmitter on, and change the station on it if there was interference. Not a good solution. I'd recommend an adapter that goes from the XM to a cassette-tape that you can put into the car stereo (or get a new stereo with an MP3/XM input).

How would i sell equiptment for a Ham Satellite Radio?

All the equiptment is in Columbus GA. There is a satellite tower that would need to be disassembled. We also have the handheld walkie talkie thing. (sorry dont know much about all this) And also have the box for the frequencies. I've been trying to research this online to find out how much it is worth and to find out how to sell it.

Is there a way to hardwire a phone jack into a car stereo system's factory unit to hook up an mp3 player?

I want to be able to connect an mp3 player or handheld satellite radio receiver into my headunit. I don't want to buy a new headunit with a built in jack.


Depending on what type of vehicle and radio you have and if it is not very old, go to tss-radio.com. They sell all kinds of accessories for SIRIUS satalite radio. THey sell auxillary input for most newer vehicles that plug into factory radios.

Amateur Radio Satellites, how can I talk on one with my 2 meter?

I have had a Technician license for quite some time now but haven't talked in a while. I have a Vertex VX-150 Handheld 2 Meter Transceiver and I was interested in how to pickup/talk via Amateur satellites. They are just like repeaters right? How could I do this?
