If I have a Satellite Radio Ready in-dash Kenwood radio, what else do I need to get satellite radio set up (aside from a subscription)? Do I have to have an antenna and receiver?
You'll need two parts. A translator, and a tuner.

Listening to satellite communication on my old Kenwood TS-700 all mode 2m radio. With the same X-30 Diamond antenna works my quot;special blue ...
I have a Kenwood in dash satellite ready radio that I purchased in Feb. Everything on the radio works fine except the satellite radio just quit working a week ago. It just says "Acquiring Signal". I know the antenna is not the problem b/c hooked up to a portable system, it works just fine. I have both a Sirius Car Tuner (Model SCC1) and a Sirius Kenwood Radio Translator installed. My question is which one is bad and needs to be replaced.? I dont want to go buy the wrong component.
most of the time when this happens your antenna lead has been disconnected. but sense your saying it is. your sirius radio could be over running your regalar connection to satellite.
or you can bypass your portable system and connect your antenna directly to the head unit and it should work.

We got a new Nissan Tuscon with a Kenwood DNR-1000U Deck built in. It says Sat Radio Ready, but we can't figure out how to use it. We have a Sirrus/XM radio account t with a SKYFi2 Receiver from the previous vehicle that was hard wired in. For this new system do we need to get an adaptor, or what do we use to get Sat Radio running.
THANKS!
built in? did it come from the factory? if so you would have to either go to the factory or kenwood. anything that says sat ready can get sat radio it just needs a seperate brain. with sirius you will need the sirius tuner costs about 70 bucks and the kenwood brain about 70 bucks too (if it's compitable with that model) . with xm you will need just one brain that will cost about 109 bucks or so with an adaption cable that will hook it up to a kennwood. about 20 to 30 bucks additional. (not including installation another 60 to 70 bucks) your better off going with a portable unit its in the long run cheaper and more options with taking it places. call your local best buy or car electronics store for more info
either way your looking $140ish plus install

I bought my Honda this year and it came with a Kenwood stereo that has a Sirius satellite hookup. But, how do I actually get the service?
In order to get Sirius directly through your unit you will have to purchase three things.
The first part is SiriusConnect Translator with the model KCA-SR50. The second part is SIRIUS SCC1 Direct Cable Adapter. The final thing you'll need to purchase is a subscription from Sirius.
ok, i have a 06 Dodge Ram truck and it came with the Sirus sat radio. Can i get another radio like a Kenwood, pioneer, etc. and the Sirus will still work on the new radio?
And also is it possible for me to get that hand held portable sat radio with my current subscription with no extra charge or is That a totally different susbscription?
You can transfer your subscription to any radio you want. You just need to call and tell them teh serial number of the new radio.
As for your truck. I suspect you can get an aftermarket radio and hook up the Sirius to it. If not, you will need to buy a whole new radio that has Sirius. The dealer would know and so will the aftermarket installer.
