Battery powered voltage multiplier.?

I'm looking to create a dc-dc voltage multiplier with an input voltage of 12v with an output voltage of 396v (effectively a 33x multiplier) for charging a 400v capacitor. I'm sick of being confined to a wall outlet and AC power sources, and am going to hopefully be using some rechargeable heavy duty lead acid batteries. I've been scouring the internet, and I haven't been able to find basic schematics for a multiplier of this type. Can anyone direct me to a source that shows a basic formula for a schematic of this type? Even if I have to extrapolate to 33x from whatever the given configuration is, it would be helpful.

It appears you already have a supply that runs off 120 VAC, so you can buy a cheap inverter to generate 120 VAC from 12 VDC.

another path:

Look up schematics of inverters, one is in the reference, but there are lots others, and change the transformer to have a 280 volt secondary, which when put through a bridge rectifier will give you 400 VDC.

Yet another path, avoiding the transformer, which you can do as the battery is floating.

Setup a 555 astable running at perhaps 1000 Hz. Run it through a LS74 divide by 2 to generate 500 Hz and a good square wave. Drive a pair of NPN-PNP power transistors between +12 and common. Use this square wave to drive a long voltage multiplier chain with lots of diodes and lots of caps.

Voltage Doubler Connected to a Camera Can Recharge Battery

Where I did not let the voltage get up to 300 volts it can be easily done. This system can be used to charge a 6V, 12V, 18V 24V, 36V, 48V and any ...

What would be the fastest way to charge a battery?

My project is a wind turbine charging battery.
The specifications would be 12" propeller and a 3.6V Ni-Cd battery.
I have an oscillator and a voltage multiplier in the circuit.
I just need to know what is the most efficient and fastest way to charge a 3.6V Ni-Cd battery. The the circuit produces around 5-4V
I was required to use the circuits said above and the battery is just a plain 1.2V AA battery that is in series together

"oscillator and a voltage multiplier" why? this wastes a lot of power.

You have to look up the specifications on the NiCd battery and determine the max charge rate, and how to determine if it is fully charged, as overcharging can damage the battery.

You can set the current roughly by a series resistor, or more elaborately via a current regulator.
