nascar race scanners

I have seen at Nascar events where you can rent race scanners, but they are normally $75 for the weekend with a $500 deposite.
I have seen them for around $150 to buy on ebay, just was wondering there was a better place.

You can buy a simple Radio Shack police/fire scanner. Essentially the same thing, but a much lower price.

And do all the tracks have them?

I know the fanview is 50 for Sunday only & 75 for the entire weekend. I rented one for the Pepsi 400 last July in Daytona and fell in love with it. I ended up buying on off ebay eariler this year.

As far as I know they're at all race tracks.

i am going to the atlanta race in october and i was wondering if anyone has ever rented a race scanner from the track? if renting is not a good idea where do i get one from?

I have never rented one because I have my own. They are defiantly worth having. I go to the Talladega race twice a year and I know you can rent them for about $50 a day or $75 for the weekend (if you are going to the Busch race too). The news ones that they have for rent have a little screen on them too. They are really neat. One of my friends rented one at the spring race and he loved it so much he bought his own.
It's really cool to listen to the drivers talk to their crew chiefs.

It may be cheaper to buy a used one on eBay then to pay that much to rent one for a day. Just be sure to get the "nub" antenna, if not you will pick up way too much stuff other than just the drivers.
