What is the best portable cb radio to get?
Comm

cobra
midland
or anyone you know thats good
NOT PORTABLE I DONT WANT IT
thank you

best portable CB radio.....

if your talking handheld, thier is no such thing, i have 6 and they all stink. they need to be held straight up and down and are no good for talking a mile. garbage really. the antenna is no good. if you do want to look into them though i know cobra makes some and midland as well, check ebay they are always on there. best and cheapest place to get handheld cb radios.

if you plan on going from car to car with a radio, they make boxes to plug in your radio too as well as an external speaker, and you plug it into the cig. lighter. they work, and are portable throw it on the seat or flood next to you and your good to go.... obviously attaching a magnet mount antenna to your radio running it out the window and putting the antenna on the roof.

cobra 29 is a nice radio and pretty cheap. their are better and bigger, but it should suit your needs... start thinking about your antenna, if you wanna talk well you need more than a radio shack mag mount.

Does anyone make a portable cb radio with ssb. If so, where do I buy it at?

I dont think anyone does, Ive serviced them for 30 years...just get a small mobile SSB unit, hang it on your belt ,use a small flexable whip antenna, and a common gel-cell 12vdc battery(theyre light, and lots of current), on the otherside of your belt ....should work fine...

I Have A 40 Channel Portable CB Radio, Can I Use It As A Scanner?

well depends on what you mean by scanner
(also 40 channel cb's dont use crystals they are long gone)

what your thinking of when you say scanner, no you can not. their are some CB's out there that will moderate a few select cb channels of your choice.

CB is Citizens band and can only listen to that band. its 27.---mhz for the most part, and cops use something like 155.--- so dont think your ever going to hear them on the cb. cb;s are fun... but not scanners.

Anybody know about a cheap power source for a CB radio?

I have recently bought a CB radio but i don't want to install it in my car or buy a portable hand held one. All i need is a power source but all of the ones that i found are too expensive. Does anybody know a cheap power source for it.

Radio Shack has 13.8 volt power supplies - you will need one that can supply at least 5 amps:

Sorry, none of them are cheap.

Shortwave listening is a popular activity whose participants specialise in receiving radio signals from around the world. Signals may include international broadcasters (eg BBC, Voice of America, Radio Japan, Radio Australia), maritime and aircraft communications, pirate broadcasters, military operations and amateur and CB radio activity.

Unlike the normal medium wave (AM) or VHF (FM) signals from local radio stations, shortwave signals can travel worldwide.

However to hear them, a special receiver, capable of tuning frequencies between 2 and 30 MHz is required. Details of suitable equipment are provided later.
