I bought a jeep with a Uniden PRO520XL CB Radio...?
Odyssey 2150 Circuit Breakers

I'm not sure if it works because I have had it on for quite a long time on the highway (on channel 9) and I can't hear anyone neither I have had any response from anyone. The squelch is open and I can't hear anything.. How could I find out if it is working? Thanks!! (Without buying another cb of course!)

For starters turn off channel '9', this is a "emergency only channel. Turn to channel '19' this is the channel that most truckers use on the highway. Once that is done, turn your squelch all the way down, you should hear static, now turn your squelch up until the static stops, this should be about 1/4 of the way. Now call out by doing this you will be asking for a "radio check" The proper way to do this is saying:
"BREAKER 1.9, BREAKER 1.9 RADIO CHECK" . Continue doing this till you get a response. Also as far as the squelch goes remember the farther up it is the less range you will get.

hook up a uniden pro520xl cb radio - to my evo?
Trim Panel Restored

i want to know if the system will work w/o the additional antenna
(i just need it to work for about 1 mile? range)when i go up for the mountain run.
i was going to install it w/o adding a antenna like the jeep guys

are my chanels going to be same with other handheld radios?

thank you for your answers.

If you are talking about the FRS handheld radios they are different frequencies than a CB. It needs an antenna to work. What's an 'EVO'?

Uniden pc 66xl cb radio needs help?
Mounted

uniden pc 66 xl... Radio powers up but just clicks. When i key the mic other radios just hear the click. Any one know what went out?

It could be the mic cord is going bad. I'm not familiar with this particular radio, does it have a detachable mic? If so try to substitute.

  • Brand New Reproduction Cobra 2000GTL Due Out This Fall !!!

A couple of days ago, I exchanged emails with someone at Cobra Electronics in their marketing dept. No big deal, but I wasn't quickly dismissed either. My initial attempt was to convince or even influence someone---anyone---at Cobra to consider or explore the possibility of remanufacturing a classic collector radio from their company's past lineup. I think IMHO that there are alot of guys who would love to own a bone-stock, unmodified virgin Cobra 2000GTL. From there, they could do what they wanted to it. But atleast they wouldn't be starting out with a heavily modded-out (or sadly hacked) radio----with a completely unknown history. Worn parts. And the original 2000's are all getting up there...
