Wilson 1000 cb antenna trunk lid mount, does the mount crack the paint on the trunk?
I had the K40 trunk lip mount on my old Thunderbird. The Wilson mount is similar. The set screws must pierce through paint to metal for proper performance and exposing area to the elements.
I'm talking about with a stock cobra 25 LTD. Plus after it has been tuned. I wanna know a guess on both way before tuned and after.
given the right atmospheric conditions etc you can talk almost any where in the world. but remember that CB operators are restricted in their communicatios to only 150 miles. you can be stuck with heavy fines and/or imprisonment if the FCC catches you doing it. i know... been there... done that if you want to talk a long ways then get your amateaur (ham) radio license...no limit to where you can talk legally

I really like wilson cb antennas. But I don't know if they would be right putting one on a truck.
Get yourself a cheap one.
Theyre only gonna work as good as the other guys receiver.
No need to spend big bucks on an antenna that aint gonna get thru all the noise on the CB nowadays. I got a 4ft whip on one mirror of my dump truck and a 18inch rubber ducky antenna on my van. They both work equally well.

I am leaning twords the brand Firestik, and i want to get the kit because i need the wire and everything. But should i get dual fiberglass whips or just one? take a look at these pics (not the first magnetic mount cuz that sucks) but the others and that was what i was leaning tword. Not the real question.....How long? 2 feet 3? Any answer will held, thanks http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/636630 -dual-wilson-cb-antenna.html
The ideal antenna length is one wave length.
But that is a bit impractical.
So go with what is called a "continuous load". Like a "Firestik".
Duals get into a phasing problem if they are not situated right. They will cause a situation like that of a mic too close to a speaker - feed back.
Antenna placement is an issue. For talking down the road, the antenna belongs on the right rear bumper. For a more unidirectional field, the center of the car/truck is best. The mounting plane (car or truck in this case) becomes the ground plane and reflects the energy in that direction.
