CB Radios Answers

what are the function on the back of a yaesu FT-101EE cb radio?
Yaesu FT-2000.

there are bunch of RCA plug on the back of the radio, what are each function

Let's see...first....the 101EE is NOT a cb.....it is an Amateur or Ham Radio transceiver. If you are in the U.S. I'd reccomend not using it at all as you have the ability to interfere with F.C.C. liscensed stations that can locate you and turn you in to the proper authorities. There are many places to obtain related docs for this old radio on the www. Be careful with this radio.....we are listening for you at this moment and will know when you go on the air...........check out the links below

Ham radio (Yaesu Vertex VX-170) forums?
Yaesu FT-817ND Portable Transceiver

Just recently got a yaesu Vertex VX-170 I want to use for ski touring and backcountry applications. also have the programming software etc.

Any good resources out there to walk a ham radio newbie through all the steps to just keep it simple and talk to other radios; open up repeaters etc.

better still - any users of this type of radio in Vancouver who'd be willing to walk me through this radio?

Thanks!

Try your local ham radio club in Vancouver (USA or Canada?)
I had various Yaesu xcvrs years ago. They are well made, but I found them difficult to use without having a user manual by my side at all times.
Good luck. 73's

Amateur radio Yaesu ft-857d connected to arrow antenna ? 4? ?
Yaesu FT-225RD VHF Transceiver

Here's the arrow antenna http://www.visradio.com/photo/arrow/arro w2529.jpg which is connected to a yaesu ft-857d using an adapter BNC to N-type. The reception is ok but i cannot open my local repeaters.Although all of the settings are ok shifts tones etc.The antenna comes pretuned i guess. What may be the problem??
I don't have a SWR meter so i cant check it.

Make sure your antenna is properly aimed. Being a beam, it is highly directional. Take this advice as well as that of the previous answer, and you should solve your problem.

ALSO, if the repeaters have PL tones, make sure the proper tone is set.

The link doesn't work. is this 2 meters or what frequency are you on?

If you are talking about 144 mhz. you should be able to open a close repeater even if the antenna was screwed up. I am thinking there is something wrong with the offset. Maybe it's offset the wrong direction.
