acoustic car speakers

I have Boston Acoustic Pro Rally series speakers in my car, front and back. I have had them for 5-6 years and they have taken lots of loud music, rap and rock, over the years. I have had an amp hooked up to them the whole time also. I am getting a new car and am wondering if I should splurge and buy new speakers or just transfer them from my old car to my new car. They still sound very very good to me but that could be because I am so use to them. Does anyone know if speakers reduce quality over time?? do amps?

yes over a long period of time, but those bostons are great speakers and and 5 years really is not that long. 10 yes 5 na... but also the new series bostons will likely sound better than the old ones based on improovements over the last 5-6 years. i certainly would not replace unless you are willing to spend the money to get something very comparable in todays market... all that said though, you said your happy with them, so i say keep um, why waiste the money..? and as far as the amp goes, man amps can last for 20 years, and they as far as i know never degrade in sound quality... they eigther work or they dont work.

I currently have four 6.5 in.Boston Acoustic coax installed in the doors that are powered by a 250w Reference 2ch.amp. I want to hook up a subwoofer to the existing amp and power the four door speakers from my head unit. Is this possible? and if so, how do I go about it. I'm also running the signal through a passive EQ. Thank you for your consideration.

Beware that your head unit might not supply enough power to driver the Bostons in your door. You could just get a mono channel amp for the subs, as that is what they are made for anyway and would sound better than the 2 channel on the subs. That way the subs get only low freqs.

Bose blows, and thankfully they dont offer a aftermarket speaker.

ok your looking for good sound for listening to a lot of acoustic music. i'm going to have to 2nd the guy that said Boston ACOUSTICS. the name says it all. i own a pair of there z6's and they sound freakin awesome. best car audio sound i've ever heard. there other stuff is really good too. here is a link, with good prices, you can check them out for yourself. there SL line is really good. you might also want to try ebay.

I have a 1988 Toyota Supra, with Boston Acoustic RJ47 speakers in the rear and doors, with a Alpine 9803 head unit, and 2 10" MTX Terminator subs, and a 1000w Pyramid Arctic amplifier, how do I make the car speakers play only treble, without making the subs lose bass?
Is there a way?

go to the eq settings on your head unit (usually by pushing the volume button in) and turn the bass down till its in negative numbers and turn the gain on the amp up. Thats if the BA speakers are powered by the head unit only and not the amp. If they are powered by the amp you will need to purchase a crossover
