Which brand of amplifier is good for two 10 or 12 inch subs?

I own a '04 BMW 325xi with the harman kardon speakers...but im looking to beef up my bass....I'm leaning towards either getting two (12 inch) Infinity 1252W's or two (10 inch) Alpine SWR-1042D's put in the back...what kind of amplifier would i need to get? someone told me that it should be 'bridgeable'...will i need to get a capacitor? another car battery? thank you for your help in advance.

ps- im looking for nice, clean, bass....i want sound quality, not just loudness. =)

Just be sure the amp you get is 2006 CEA compliant.

Typically you'll want to match the total watts RMS of the subs and amp at the required impedance(ohms).

When shopping for an amp, look at the THD ratings, the lower the better. If possible, get two DVC 4 ohm subs to provide a 4 ohm load as loading an amp at 4 ohms has a lower THD than if you were to load it at 2 ohms or less.

When shopping for subs, the higher the dB sensitivity and lower the Hz the better.

The type of enclosure you choose is also a major factor that defines bass.

I think redleopardette means parallel - not series to get 1 ohm. Just because an amp is low ohm stable doesn't mean it will sound good, loud yes but good, no.

My 2 12" alpine type X's?

Alright... i have 2 12 inch Alpine type x's and i need to know a lot of info on how to get the most bumpage out of them...

k, for those who knows about alpine type x's, knows there 1000rms and 3000 peak...

i have them hooked up to a Eclipse Premium 34230 amp, and dont think im getting a third of the power out of them, my girlfriends sony xplodes can keep up with these so far, and i aint liking it, after bein like 300-400 dollars each speaker, yeah, big differance from her 70-80 dollars speakers each

i have them hooked up with 4 gauge wires,

so what should i do, i mean a frickin diagram or some thing would do great..

thanks and sorry for the long read
so what would be a good amp for these two?

First, the above poster is right. You do not have nearly a big enough amp to fully power those subs.

To fully power those subs you will want a monoblock amp that is around 2000w RMS @ 4 ohms or 2000w RMS @ 1 ohm. It will be cheaper to find an amp that is 2000w RMS @ 1 ohm.

If you do get an amp that large you will probably have to do some electrical upgrades to your vehicle. That would include doing the "big 3" upgrade (google it) and possibly upgrading to a high output alternator. You will also want to use 0 gauge wire if you get an amp that large.

What kind of enclosure do you have them in currently? What are the specs of it (internal volume and tuning frequency (if ported))? If they are in a prefab enclosure you could be loosing output and/or sound quality.

How do you have the subs wired currently? That amp does not work well with your subs so I suggest getting a new one if you really want to improve the performance of your subs.

Good Luck!!!

I NEED HELP PLEASE I NEED HELP finding A GOOD amp and fixing connection with my car door speakers?

as for the subs. you can get descent jensen amps for $200 or less.

as for the door speakers. take a test light to the speaker plug behind the door and make sure its seeing a positive lead. if it isnt, jsut trace it back unitl you do. check the fuses too on the factory amp
