I think I have too much power running to my speakers from my amp. I have 6.5" component alpine type R in front and 6x9 type R in back. my amp is the alpine f600. dont know the best settings for this.
also one of my tweeters sounds pretty bad and im not sure why?
To tune your amplifier you should...
1) center the bass and treble on your radio.
2) leave the crossovers off
3) turn the gain all the way down on your amplifier
4) turn the volume on the radio to 3/4 of the full volume
5) adjust the gains on the amplifier to the max point that the speakers still sound clear and undistorted
Note: The gains for the rear should be lower then the gains for the front because the 6X9's will have a higher sensitivity.
As far as the tweeter is concerned you should check the crossover that came with it and make sure its wired correctly.
Here is just my update, Sorry for keeping all you guys waiting LoL. - (2x) SPX-17REF 6.3/4quot; Component Speakers (Frontamp;Rear) - (1x) SWX ...
Will it still sound good if i just use 3 channels for 4 speakers?
This happens sometimes. What you need to do is run all 4 speakers off of one set of outputs (2 channels) and leave the 3rd one dead like the 4th. You cant hook up 2 speakers normally left and right and 2 speakers to the remaining channel. Doing that would make the amp unstable and you would could blow out that channel too. Not to mention that you would be only have one side (left or right) playing the same in both of the speakers. basically, it is not good for the amp and will sound bad.
Just run all 4 speakers off of 2 of the channels that work. You don't have to bridge the amp or anything, just 2 speakers + and - on one channel and the same on the other, leaving your last channel unused and your 4th blown.
Hope this helps.

two 6x9's and either components of coaxial type r's in the front haven't decided yet. i want 100 watts of clear power to all of them but i don't know which amps are reliable, my budget is 200 and under ....
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_1909 1_Autotek+AT950.html yes this is 120 watts rms but if you turn the gain on the amp down you will recieve about 100 watts of pure clean power with little to no distortion. only 75 bucks
Hi, i just purchased a 1997 Mercedes Benz S420. What the previous owner did was install an aftermarket Alpine Deck he then ran the speaker wires to his trunk along with the Remote Wire. He connected all 4 speaker wires to an Alpine 4 Channel Amp. At home i have a Rockford Fosgate Soundsystem Package i want to connect this. Should i add another amp or should i take off the alpine amp and just stick with the Fosgate? and if i do stick with the Rockford Fosgate amp is it okay to connect 2 wires in 1 terminal (Rear stock speakers postive wire with the Right subwoffers positive wire)?
Get a distribution block so you can run 2 amplifiers in your system. Use one amp to power all of your speakers and then the other amp to power your subwoofers. If you go this route you won't need to connect your rear speakers to the same amp as your subs but to answer your question yes you can do that its called wiring them in PARALLEL.
I have two kicker comp 12in woofers which are a single voice coil (svc) 4ohm. and i have an Alpine mrv f407. i cant really find too much information on the f407 but did find that amp is 4ohm bridgeable @ 160watts rms x 2. my kicker comps are 4ohm 150watt rms woofers. i kinda want to run them bridged one woofer on channels 1&2 the other woofer one channels 3&4 however ill be feeding them 10watts too much, granted this is 160 watts is rated at 14.4v which we all know a car with a sound system isn't going to be near that. At most with alternator running it will be in the upper 13v. i will wire this way if i have too with the levels down however i was wondering if i ran the two subs in parallel and then bridged them between channels 1&2 i would have a 2ohm load.. my concern with this is i cant really find the right info on the amp i know i can bridge 4ohm and get 160watts but it doesn't say if the amp is 2ohm stable while bridged. can this cause a problem with the Amplifier?
It won't be 2 ohm stable when bridged. Just bridge each sub to each paired channel for 4 ohm operation. The 10 more watts won't hurt a thing as you can go as high as 10% over the RMS power handling.
Be sure to set the gain right.
The purpose of the gain is to match the signal volts RMS coming from the source (CD player, etc.) to the input of the amp to prevent clipping (damage by over powering).
Here is a guide that will help you set the gain correctly http://www.box.net/shared/uchv4dbk88
You'll need a multi-meter (AC voltmeter, $15 from Radio$hack), Microsoft Excel and a way to burn an audio CD from an MP3.

Alpine V12 4 channel MRV-f345 amp; MRV-F605 mono...and maybe the ...
Along with the 2 amps I may be selling my amplink kit....it allows you to read all the info and make adjustments on the fly right on the dash with you Alpine head unit.....that is the reason I got all of this in the first place....to get the most out of my 9835 as possible...plus if the amps are in the trunk it would be nice to adjust them from driver seat. The amplink kit is new in the box. I pick it up today from UPS. I am not certain I will sell it but if i do then it will be the unit itself and a few cables...I think to control up to 8 amps....if I sell it...
